Well according to dates, Mittens is supposed to have kittens on Monday sometime. I'm not sure about Misty. She could be anytime, but I believe she won't be for about another week.

I think I'm ready. I have lots of clean towels and sheets, kennel, Krm, a scale.

Is there anything I'm missing????

Not anything I can think of. Just wanted to say good luck. How many do you think they will have?

I would simply follow the advice that Gaye has provided in this thread:

I think she has covered all the bases.

Well I took in 2 pregnant queens due within a week of each other.

Mittens is HUGE HUGE HUGE, so I'm guessing 8 or 9 and Misty is smaller but I'm guessing 4 or 5, but my gut tells me 5 from Misty and 8 from Mittens.

The two kittens in my signature (Yuki and Hitomi) died at 4.5 weeks old I believe. They got URI and the vet just said to take them home and clean their noses and eyes and they should be fine in about a week's time. Well, Yuki passed during the night and I rushed Hitomi into the vet when I found Yuki, but by then it was too late and I had to put Hitomi to sleep. It was the saddest and hardest day I've had.

I'm so sorry for your baby kittens! Anyway, good luck with your new kittens. They'll probably be healthy, and beautiful to match. I don't think you need anything else, except some sleep!

A heating pad
and puppy pee pee pads -walmart & big lots have them very cheap!
- put a puppy pee pee pad over it and keep it on low so that the kittens will stay warm when the momma gets up to use the litter or eat.

a chart- to record weight,etc...

several droppers and kitten bottles- differnt types so that you can figure out which works best for each kitten should the mommy refuse one or one needs to be give extra tlc

is the momma on dry kitten food? If not, put her on Purina Kitten Chow or one of your choosing- it has extra vitamins and nutrients that a pregnant and nursing momma will need. She should stay on that until the kittens are weaned.

be prepared to interviene and help out with the embryoninc sac & embiblical cord if need be (string and scissors
)

have the number to several vets as well as several after hour clinics should an emergency arise

Also be sure to have a stool sample done on the kittens when they are old enough to rule out coccidia and worms ...those are Extremely common in kittens and many times can turn fatal.

Pedialyte- of any flavor....should a kitten become dehydrated, you immediately want to give them pedialyte...and then take them into the vet for a Sub Q iv.

I'm sure i'll think of more later. Good luck sweetie!!!! I'm sure the momma kitties will do just fine!!! Please feel free to pm me if you need anything at all!

oooo those are some good ones!

It's weird because I have a lot of that on hand already as I use a lot of those things for my son when he's sick. I'm going to get a heating pad and stuff like tomorrow afternoon.

The only possible date Mittens could have gotten pregnant was July 25, so if she's right on time, it will be monday.

I'm a bit nervous as I've never had to help a mama cat before, so I'm hoping she'll be able to do it on her own. I'll do it, but I'll need some direction.

Well both females are showing signs that they could give birth anyday. They are both being extremely affectionate (unusal for them) and another neat thing was that I rubbing Misty's bellly and I could feel her kittens moving in her.
It was neat.

Any kittens yet?

Keep tabs on seeing if either of the females are having a discharge, as that is a definite sign that they are in the first stages of labor.

be careful with a human heating pad, they sometimes can get too hot for kitten's skin. Make sure you put a towel on top of it and put the heating pad under it in the middle, this way if it does get too hot, the kittens can move to the farther part of the towel where it will be cooler. There's also a method of putting uncooked white rice in a sock and heating that up but I haven't tried it.

Still no kittens. I know for sure the due date of Mittens because she only got out once for less than 3 or 4 hours and it would be today. I thought the 26th was monday...hehe I was wrong. Today is day 63. So she could still take a couple days.

Misty will probably be about 5 or so days yet.
