    Recurring infection

Thanks a million.  I gave it a look, and Googled it too. It does sound very similar to what my boy has. What confuses me is that the vet straight up said it's gingivitis... but we'll be taking him to the vet this Saturday again, for a checkup and then the testing, if need be.

    Recurring infection

My cat is 13 now, and he was perfectly healthy until about a year-2 years ago. He has kitty gingivitis, and the infection spread to his nose, which he tends to rub raw. His fur is matted, his paws are actually a brownish colour from the blood that comes off his nose and he can only eat his wet...

    Cat tooth infection

Even more relieved today! Spoke to my sister on the phone yesterday, she said he is feeling and looking SO much better. Eating nicely, picking up weight, his fur looks healthy again (it looked matted before) and he's bounding with energy again. She did say he rubs at his nose which causes it to...

    Cat tooth infection

No worries. Everything is fine with him, thank goodness. Basically, his mouth infection just caused some type of infection in his nose - somehow. He got a few injections and some medicine, and will have to have an injection once a month now. The vet said it should keep the infection at bay so it...

    Cat tooth infection

Thanks so much. I also think it'll be much better for him to have the operation... there's a special organisation here called the Animal Anti Cruelty League and that's where my sister and them took him now. Still waiting though. But I think they can do the operation for waaay more than half of...

    Cat tooth infection

Quick update from my sister. She's taking him in to the vet as I type this. Looks like another issue has arisen. His nose is bleeding and when he sneezes, he sneezes blood. She said it's not going well with him right now. I'm very worried about this.

    Cat tooth infection

I'll look around for that toothpaste, and also ask my dad and them to look around for it! Funny how they make it fish flavour - I'm sure my boy would jump at the chance for that! I'm still waiting for my sister to get back to me with regards to all this, I think it's like an animal rescue center...

    Cat tooth infection

This is so funny - mouse is actually a nickname I give to my other cat. It's too cute. Well, he basically just eats soft food now that my folks get for him, and he still snuggles with everyone regularly. He does just seem a bit different though, which makes me worry.  We live in South Africa...

    Cat tooth infection

I'm not too sure if they took a tissue sample. I think they just looked at his mouth. What happened last time is they tried with antibiotics, those didn't work. Then they started giving him 3 injections I think which is supposed to keep the infection away for up to 5 months, which is when he'll...

    Cat tooth infection

Hi all. Looking for ANY advice on this situation - at all. My cat (in my picture) has had a terrible tooth/mouth infection for months now. He doesn't live with me, but my dad and my sister keep me updated regularly. My sister recently told me that something drastic needs to be done, his teeth...

    Depressed cat?

My dad (awesome man that he is) says he's going to see what he can do. There may be a way to sliiightly bend the system, which he's going to look into. Keep fingers crossed! As much as it kills me, it would be best to put him to sleep if there's nothing more that can be done. I wouldn't let him...

    Depressed cat?

Our currency is just unbelievably weak. If I could actually get that money in some way at all, I would do it in a heartbeat. I really would, because it would mean him getting better. It is just literally impossible for me to get that money.

    Depressed cat?

Just an update: he is very sick, from what I heard from my sister. He needs a tooth extraction, which will cost me R5000, which is about 298 US Dollars. Not very affordable when in South Africa.  Please, keep him in your prayers - his name is Crystal. Weird name for a boy, I know. My sister...

    Depressed cat?

Hi all. I wrote on here not long  ago regarding my cat who lives with me... but I have a concern now regarding my cat who does NOT live with me. He's about 11 years now - I got him when I was 11. He's always been my special baby. Slept by me *almost* every night and what not. About a year ago, I...

    Horrific middle ear infection

It's definitely an infection! She appears to be getting better. Especially with the itching! So that's a relief. We don't have to wrap her in a towel anymore, even though she still HATES the drops. Still meows etc, which I think could actually be mainly from the coldness of the drops, along with...

    Horrific middle ear infection

Oh, poor thing. Yours actually sounds loads difficult than mine! Maybe the burrito wrap can work for you too? It reeaally helps with ours! And she gets a treat afterwards for being so good which seems to make it more bearable for her because now she knows that she gets something yummy after. I...

    Horrific middle ear infection

Just an update: we used the burrito wrap method this morning. She was not a happy cat but it worked brilliantly. She also did very well today. 12 more days to go.  Thanks to both for your wonderful help!!!

    Horrific middle ear infection

She is quite a lot more chilled with the other. But she did SO well tonight. She barely cried at all and stayed surprisingly still. Her ear is irritating her a bit and that's about it. She's been sitting in her box for the past 3 hours. Such a brave girl. I'm hopeful that it stays as good as it was.

    Horrific middle ear infection

Thanks for the video! It's both ears, but one is a lot worse than the other.

    Horrific middle ear infection

I'm definitely most uneasy because of her cries. I can just tell it's excruciating for her. Like what goes through my head is "we are her mommy and daddy, we're supposed to protect her - not hurt her" even though I know it's best for her. I will try the towel way, perhaps it can help. I usually...
