Conflicted about cat food after visiting vet

I've heard great things about Sheba! Unfortunately it's not available in lowly Canada :(...  Hahaha, glad you can relate to the student life struggle! Would love to try Sheba, but as mentioned above, not in Canada :(...  Appreciate the info, and I understand that water becomes an important...

Conflicted about cat food after visiting vet

It's great that you can feed your cats a raw diet, I won't dare doubt that it's keeping them as healthy as possible, I only wish I could do the same! However, sometimes for people who can't afford such meals for the cats or myself even I think it might be best (for me atleast) to stick to...

Conflicted about cat food after visiting vet

Hi all, Wasn't expecting this much great advice!  I think this is what I'm going to do. I'll start with switching to dry + probiotics (vet provided some) and once his poop stabilizes I'll try various affordable brands and see which ones his gut agrees with! Also I love the idea of boiling...

Conflicted about cat food after visiting vet

Would love to use chewy, but I'm from Canada so shipping is a bit out there in terms of cost. I'll see what switching to dry does to his poop then try to see if I can incorporate wet food. Unfortunately I'm limited to $40/mo for cat food so I may not be able to afford 50/50 with higher quality...

Conflicted about cat food after visiting vet

Hi all, so my kitty has had diarrhea for the past month after we transitioned him to wet food (Friskies, and pet valu house brand). I've read a ton about cat food so I'm not totally ignorant on the fact that usually wet food doesn't cause diarrhea. However I went to my vet for the diarrhea issue...

Want to switch from clay clumping to wood pellet based litter - need suggestions

Fixed! I'm in Ontario so my choices are limited and prices are ridiculous. I think I'll try a bag and see if he takes to it, it's only around $5 I don't think I have much to lose. Will pick some up in the coming weekend and mix it into his clay litter and see how it goes. Thanks!

Want to switch from clay clumping to wood pellet based litter - need suggestions

First of all, I'd like to say that clay litter sucks... for me at least... I'm on a tight budget so I end up buying fresh4life/grreat choice brands and the amount of dust when I pour the litter is insane. It leaves a thin layer of dust on my apartment floors and since the kitchen is open to the...

Starting an all-wet food diet with timed meals - some questions

Haha yes, unfortunately our selection and prices are horrid compared to the US. I'd love to feed him "premium" brands of cat food but the cost is simply too high. If there are other foods I can look to that would be great. By-product meal seems to be common in more affordable brands so it might...

Starting an all-wet food diet with timed meals - some questions

Hey all, Thanks to you guys I've done a bit of research on cat food/nutrition and now that I'm back to my apartment after the holidays I'm going to make the switch to wet food from dry for the sake of my cat (now 6 months) and I have some questions with respect to feeding. So currently meals...

Food, Balancing budget and well-being for a 5mo kitty [Canadian]

Thanks for all the helpful and informative replies! It seems like wet food is the absolute answer for cat food so ill look into slowly integrating into his meals and hopefully finish with him on 100% wet. Ill use a bit of dry since he loves to catch and eat kibble when i throw it. Will look into...

Food, Balancing budget and well-being for a 5mo kitty [Canadian]

Hi all, So I've recently adopted a 5mo little bugger from the local Humane Society here and have run into a small dilemma with respect to feeding healthy food while not overspending. Now I realize the importance of good food for cats, but I am currently a student and don't have the means to...
