    The Sky is the limit!

Update:  I'm at my wit's end!!! Shortly after my last post, I took Sky to the vet to get checked over.  Nothing showed up.  They treated with an antibiotic just in case.   And we put him on a small dose of valium once a day.    Our routine for the last month has been:   Sheldon is the only one...

    The Sky is the limit!

Ok y'all.  I need help!   Things have gotten worse and I'm not sure what to do next.   The total separation and space swapping was in progress with only a few (incident free) accidental moments of togetherness when someone escaped their rooms.   Last week Sheldon was having difficulty peeing...

    The Sky is the limit!

Thanks so much for sharing your story ShadowsRescue!  It gives me hope that eventually my boys will get along.   And it makes me feel better that this sort of setback isn't too unusual.  They did SO well at the beginning that it's disappointing to see them fighting now.   At one point, they...

    The Sky is the limit!

So it's been a few months and I thought I'd post an update. The introductions continued at a slow pace.   We continued with a small amount of togetherness in the evenings when I could supervise and play with them.   Gradually the time increased until all 3 cats were living together quite...

    Spay appointment made

Well, the whole "keep kitty confined for a week or so" is how Sky ended up being our new house kitty instead of being released immediately as I had originally planned.   Ask friends and neighbors if they have a dog crate they aren't using.  That would work well for confinement.

    Spay appointment made

Woohoo!! Glad you caught her!  Hope she gets through the night peacefully and the vet trip goes well.   You may want to take a cat carrier to the vet with you and they can put her in that for the trip home instead of the trap.

    The Sky is the limit!

Another update: Things are going well.  Sky is now out of isolation whenever there are humans home to intercede just in case there is a fight.   I wouldn't say they are all friends yet, but they are peacefully co-existing.    The only time we have heard any upset cat noises is when one of them...

What's Wrong With This Cat? I'm New. Long Story.

I just read BK's story.  What a handsome guy!   It's so amazing to watch them become a part of the family.

    The Sky is the limit!

Yes, I agree.  I really wish I knew his story before he came to live in my backyard.   It's so puzzling because he was SOOO feral when he was outside.  After 6 months of patience and effort I never made any progress at all in befriending him.  The first week he was indoors made me think he was...

    The Sky is the limit!

Yesterday we got the good news that the fecal test came back negative for parasites so we have started the introductions.  Last night we carefully opened the door and let the 2 boys touch noses and get acquainted.  It went very well!  No hissing or spitting. Sky was super brave and explored all...

Worried about two cats I left behind

I'm glad you didn't really disappear too.  I'm anxiously waiting to hear "the rest of the (success!) story"   No shame in guessing the wrong gender!  It's not always easy from a distance for sure.  Took us forever to really get a good look at Sky's manly bits.  We picked a pretty neutral name...

Socializing 10 week old feral kitten

Sounds like you are doing a great job so far!  I would make sure to separate the two cats at feeding time and use that as the time when the kitten MUST be around you.  Food is a big motivator for ferals.  He needs to associate human presence with good wonderful happy things.   I'm all about...

    The Sky is the limit!

An update:  Today was the day for his 1 month followup at the vet.  I've been giving him treats in his carrier for a week or so and this morning he went inside the carrier very willingly and I was able to calmly shut the door.  No drama at all - yay!   I had lined the carrier with a towel and...

Mom is a feral cat, now Inside with Kittens - Need help with mom vs litter box usage.

Oops, I meant to add that he wouldn't use the box at first no matter what.  I don't think he liked climbing into that box even though it was large and not covered.   The pee pad helped him transition from a flat pile of dirt to the box filled with litter.   And the pee pads were easy to clean up!

Mom is a feral cat, now Inside with Kittens - Need help with mom vs litter box usage.

When I brought Sky inside after his trip to the vet, he had NO clue how to use the litterbox.  He peed in the corner and pooped on the floor near the door.  After some cleaning up, I laid out one of those blue puppy pee pads on the floor in the location where he had peed before.  I brought in...

    The Sky is the limit!

My boys had some friendly interaction at the "howdy window" tonight. Lots of happy purr noises going back and forth! Sheldon peeks in. They were both much happier than thy seem in the photos. I just love how they both have white nose triangles.
