    cats and newborn babies?

hi, all. my husband and I will be trying to start a family soon. I keep worrying about how our two cats will behave (or not)... they are two-year-old neutered males from the same litter, VERY active and VERY curious. I worry that they will jump inside the crib, poke inside it, etc. we live in...

    Cat pees in sink

has the kitty's urine been tested recently? crystals in the urine can make it painful to pee. the cat associates the litter box with pain and tries to pee somewhere more soothing. usually, it's the bathtub, but it could be the sink, too... good luck! I hope it's not crystals!

    tips on oral syringe?

Hi, all. One of my kitties is on antibiotics that I need to administer with an oral syringe (not a dropper). He gets VERY squirmy, as I try to hold him and give him the medicine. Do any of you have any tips on the best way to keep a cat still while doing this? Thanks! -- Michele

Constant Morning Meowing/early morning meowing... HELP!

Hello, everyone. I know this is a bit similiar to a post below, but different, as I've got two cats who keep each other entertained most of the time. My husband and I are going nuts. Our 1 1/2-year old cats are waking up really early now that it's spring. At 5 or 6 a.m., they start meowing and...

    scratches on hardwood

I've got dark floors. I'm looking for something to minimize the appearance of the scratches on the entire floor, especially in some areas that are particularly bad (like where they turn the corners).

    scratches on hardwood

Hi, all. I've got two very active kitties, who love chasing each other around. They've done quite a number on our hardwood floors! I love those floors and do not want to cover them up with carpet (although I do have some area rugs). I'm not in a position to refinish the floors right now (and I...

No more cat on kitchen counter!!!

Hi, all. I wrote in a while ago, frustrated by one of my cats jumping on the kitchen counter when I wasn't in the kitchen to shoo him off. It was driving me crazy!!! Every time I left the kitchen, I could hear him jump up there. One of you recommended this product: http://www.ssscat.com/ And...

cat always on the kitchen counters! HELP!

yes, the counters are always clean. I wipe them down like a madwoman. and, I never leave anything in the sink. (although, if I've just rinsed something for the dishwasher, it's a safe bet the cat will jump into the CLEAN sink when I leave the kitchen and lick the water.) I've tried the nubby...

injection site reaction? Vaccine Associated Sarcoma?

hello, all. I had my cat vaccinated about a week ago. last night, I noticed this peanut-sized growth in the approximate locaiton of the injection site. I began poking and squeezing it, to see if it hurt at all. it didn't. the cat isn't licking it or paying any attention to it. I just called...

    Watching Tv?

our cats love watching football on TV. they're captivated by the players running across the screen and will actually swat at them! once, one of our cats was totally taken in by this cheesy movie on Lifetime. I think he sat there, about three feet in front of the TV, and watched the whole thing...

kittens eating litter instead of pottying

please get your kittens checked out by your vet, or at least call your vet about this. eating litter can be a sign of anemia or calicium imbalance and could be serious. the not-eating-food part worries me, because cats who do not feel well won't eat food but will eat litter (or lick concrete)...

What is the weirdest thing your cat has played with?

my husband and I adopted two ACTIVE male kittens who will play with just about anything! We've had to change all of our trash cans to ones with lids, otherwise the kittens were pulling all sort of stuff out and playing with it. Q-tips. tissues. dental floss. ICK! last night, one of them was...
