Thanks for the replies everyone. I am a tad overwhelmed with the thought of trapping any more cats. The last two attempts were horrific. I’m sure the newest arrivals are from the neighbour’s colonies. My mama cat goes to the northern neighbour so i’m assuming they feed her and others, and i also...
Who knew that moving to an acreage would come with so many cats lol... i moved here over 5 years ago and from the first spring onwards, there have always been stray cats ... the first one we saw lives on my lap now ... (my avatar is the first picture i took of him... he wanted more pork chops ;)...
So she seems to have moved on. I haven't seen her since Wednesday and she hasn't eaten the dry food that I've left out. My only concern, since I have had no experience with a pregnant cat and with all the fur she had, I couldn't tell if she was pregnant, is whether she is hiding because she had...
Looking good so far...
The appointment for a vet check is on Saturday... I definitely won't need to do any kind of trapping... she is sweet and friendly and let me pick her up today for a hug. I am worried that she may be pregnant, but I can't really worry about that until I get her checked...
It's been awhile since I've been on here... I drew a fair bit of comfort from the posts on this site when a stray cat found its way onto my acreage. At the time I had two elderly indoor kitties, so I couldn't bring in a third, but my husband and I made a safe and warm place for him in a shed...

I don't think it...
I have rescued a stray who can't come inside full time because of my resident elderly cat. She is 18 and I don't allow them to be alone inside because she really doesn't like him and he would eat all her food which she desperately needs at her age.
We were able to fix up an outside shed for him...
Oh, and I would recommend lots of play things for when she is by herself. If my hunter gets bored, he runs around and gets into trouble. Cat nip mice that she can throw around would help with that when you aren't home.
I think you are taking the right steps by talking to her and approaching her slowly. She will get used to you and your wife and know you won't hurt her, so she will stick around. Then you can deal with getting her to the vet. It does sound like she doesn't have a home because I don't think a cat...
You will probably find yourself with a new cat once that food comes out . This is exactly how I got my new beastie. We also live outside of town and the cat just showed up one day and hung around quite a bit, hunting in the grass and mole hills. He was nervous of me and my husband when we...
