The birthing itself went very smoothly, with all kittens + placentas delivered about 25 minutes apart, and minimal help needed from me. I just sat by and left Lulu alone for the most part, since I didn't want to add to her stress. I had to break open one kitten's sac, and clean it's face...
Mama (Lulu) and the kittens are well. Lulu did eventually begin lactating, though I had bought some KMR just in case.
-Thanks so much to you and bigperm20 for replying.
Hello,
I've got a young queen who has given birth for the first time. There are five kittens now, the first born three hours ago. She is not producing any milk at this point and I'm concerned. I've not had this happen before, as they usually seem to let their milk down before labor. Thoughts?
The vet can't find anything wrong. Looks like it may have been an injury, a fall or he ran, head on, into something. (Neither of my parents would have hit him, don't worry.) Anyway, he's doing well, still behaving normally, looking at me with even pupils.
Thanks for your reply!
He was a stray, but we think he's about eight years old. I just picked him up and looked him over and the difference between the pupil sizes is less distinct today. I also saw that he is closing that eye a lot, although it looks clear.
Unfortunately, I couldn't get...
Hello all.
I just noticed that my parent's Maine Coon mix has unevenly dilated pupils. He is otherwise acting normally, (Not pawing at his eyes or head, will chase a piece of sting when I play with him, no siezures or other episodes). I plan to call the vet tomorrow morning, but wanted to see...
I want to apologize fervently for not replying for so long, after everyone went to the time, trouble and worry to reply to my thread. It was a great comfort to know you were all out there, thinking of Ursa as everything was happening.
After looking at Ursa's blood work, the Vets determined...
I did take Ursa back to the vet. I got the impression that they thought I was being a bit silly, but I still felt much better knowing that they would be keeping an eye on her.
There aren't any plants inside the house, and I don't think there are any poisons she could have gotten into. With...
I first noticed symptoms yesterday, when my kitty (Ursa) started vomiting. Not too unusual, I thought. Must be a hairball.
By last night, she was lying around, clearly not feeling well, and this morning she was positively lethargic. Then she threw up a clear/yellow rotten-smelling liquid.
I...
Hello again,
Right now, Cybil is eating "Solid Gold Katz-N-Flocken". Occasionally, she'll get some of the CD food that one of the other kitties (Wilhemina) needs. (Never fear, Wilhemina never gets anything other than CD. We're all too aware of how dangerous that would be.) Before Cybil...
-Thanks for your kind replies. As for the behavior that has triggered this, I'm almost positive of the answer...
I found out from my folks that Cybil (that's the cat's name) was allergic to the bites from the last flea infestation, and her skin became so badly irritated that she had to go to...
This is a strange one... One of my parent's cats keeps pulling it's hair out. It's entire belly is now bare, and now it's moving on to it's legs. The cat has been to the vet, is other wise healthy, and is eating well. -There had been fleas in the house a few months back, but all of the cats...
Thank you for your advice. I decided to apply the Advantage I had on hand, and while the fleas aren't -gone- yet they are definitely fewer. I'll see how she looks in a day or so. -Again thanks.
It's time to treat kitty for fleas (poor thing, I found a couple during her last brushing), and I've got a couple of tubes of Advantage -trouble is I don't know how old they are (probably over a year, since I don't remember buying them any time recently). There is no expiration date. Does it...
