Need input - FIV+ and FIV- cats living together. Risks/Concerns

They are blessed to have you caring for them, please clone yourself 1000's more times ! For the UTI situation, esp with males, it's caused by dry food. We use a specific brand of food here to rehab our cats, but I am not permitted to post that information here. If you can feed wet, the...

Need input - FIV+ and FIV- cats living together. Risks/Concerns

We have 5 fiv+ cats who co-exist perfectly with non fiv's here. Not unlike human HIV, fiv is transmitted from cat to cat, thru deep puncture wounds and exchange of blood or semen. With neutered domesticated cats, the risk is extremely low in the absence of cat fights. Our one fiv boy, is the...

    Need advice about Ronidazole PLEASE!!

Sherry, just be careful, wear gloves when administering the Ronidazole in pill form, it is a highly toxic medication and should not be touched with your skin. Next time, have your vet fill the prescription with Diamond Back, they will ship it directly to you, and it's alot safer to dose with a...

    Need advice about Ronidazole PLEASE!!

The Ronidazole is the only remedy for Tri trich, Diamond Back Pharmacy compounded it in liquid form, chicken flavor, and although it took quite a few weeks to knock it out, have no fear, it works and works well. Our cats were affected by this from the livestock contamination of Purina wet food...

Started with crystals, now I am not sure.

If the cat will eat the rx food great. But it is generally overpriced and not the only choice. But the other options may not generate income into your vet's practice, depending on whether or not your vet is involved or trained in the area of Integrated Vet care, which is where the future lies...

Started with crystals, now I am not sure.

You might want to supplement with TInkle Tonic, ours do not like the Rx perscription food at all, so we don't bother with them at all, esp given the ingredients. We just stick with grain free wet. :-)

Help. My cat is still so sick...

Just take a look at the ingredients, did the allergies start with the new food ? The protein is good, but make sure there is no corn, wheat, soy, or gluten. Is this a food that the vet is selling you ? Hope it isn't Science Diet or Royal Canin.

Cat with Diarrhea; Purina Cat Treats

Look at what's in those treats, omg. If you want to give any treats at all, please only give the good ones, the Liv A Little Chicken Breasts by Halo. We do not subscribe to feeding any cats or dogs, soy, gluten, corn, or wheat, or any combinations of those ingredients and only feed wet food...

Started with crystals, now I am not sure.

If he were my cat I would immediately put him on a wet food diet only, classic pates without corn, wheat, soy, or gluten with added filtered water and start him on Tinkle Tonic daily and Feline Renal Support from Standard Process. But NO dry food with grains.

Another cat diet question, cat has chronic loose stools / diarrhea

The poor cat is obviously allergic to something in the food. Look at the ingredients, could be the corn, wheat, soy or gluten or anyone of the other unidentifiable ingredients listed on the label that would probably cause your own stomach to be upset if that was all you were forced to eat.

Another cat diet question, cat has chronic loose stools / diarrhea

Dry food with corn, wheat, soy, and gluten is about as good for cats as McDonalds and the same ingredients are for people. The reason their teeth get tartar is due to the build up of those exact  ingredients. But it's better if your vet can charge you $500 to do a dental than to tell you this...

Another cat diet question, cat has chronic loose stools / diarrhea

I have come to understand why the common vets do not understand that dry food is the CAUSE of the intestinal issues everyone on these threads is describing, loose bowels and diarrhea in cats. It is really astounding that people are naive enough to not realize, as the vets chin ching and...

Another cat diet question, cat has chronic loose stools / diarrhea

If you were feeding the cat dry food his entire life, that very well was the cause of his enlarged heart issues. Humans ingesting McDonalds type foods, including corn, wheat, soy, and gluten will also face the grim reaper when cancer, heart  disease, or diabetes sets in. This is the same for...

Another cat diet question, cat has chronic loose stools / diarrhea

Hopefully it does not have corn, wheat, soy or gluten in it. But even the worst quality wet food, is better than the best quality dry. The face of Feline Nutrition is starting to change as people become more saavy.

Another cat diet question, cat has chronic loose stools / diarrhea

SCIENCE DIET WILL KILL YOUR CAT and if  your vet sells this, I would highly recommend you find another vet. Cats are not genetically programed to be able to digest dry food, let alone corn, wheat, soy, or gluten. Please read the ingredients on the bag. They are carniverous by nature. Dry food...

Another cat diet question, cat has chronic loose stools / diarrhea

Please do not feed your cat dry food. That is the cause of the pooping problem. Look at the ingredients, corn, wheat, soy, and gluten or any one of these can disrupt the proper digestion in felines (and canines). We learned a very harsh lesson here, $1500 later in testing, and finally came to...

    Anyone using Atopica?

You should eliminate the dry food completely Mom2LB, and only feed wet with a little extra added water, but only without corn, wheat, soy, or gluten. The Friskies Classic Pates, Poultry Platter, Turkey Giblets, Liver & Chicken, and Supreme Supper are grain free. Lisa Pierson's web page is very...
