    Any Experience With Hyperthyroidism?

My 12 years old cat just got diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. He hasn't shown any symptoms except increased appetite. I decided to give him ear gel for now (he has sensitive stomach) while doing more research about other treatment options. Any experience with medications (oral, topical, side...

    Cerenia?

Metronidazole caused loose stool for our cat also. It's antibiotics, so I stopped giving it and gave probiotics instead. I don't know what would work for your cat, but for our cat, we switched to all wet food (canned and raw) with no carageenan (nature's variety instinct works the best), mixed...

Nature Made Fish Oil contains soy?

I've been using Dr. Pierson's recipe using Nature Made fish oil (http://www.iherb.com/Nature-Made-Fish-Oil-1200-mg-100-Liquid-Softgels/40399?at=0) and just noticed that it contains soy...has it always been added to the oil or have they changed the ingredients? Is there any problem giving cats...

I'd take her to a vet if she's been vomiting for a few days.

Cat doesn't go number two as much after switch to wet food.

I think the food I feed to my cats are denser than Earthborn, and it was our vet's recommendation to add water. If you are concerned about ingredients of probiotic, sometimes health food stores have very simple ones in refrigerated sections.

Cat doesn't go number two as much after switch to wet food.

I add water to canned food also and it's helping them a lot. I also mix probiotics (Natural Factors Acidophilus & Bifidus) and their poops are really good. I mostly feed my cats raw, and canned foods from Nature's Variety Instinct and Nature's Logic. I think Montmorillonite Clay in these canned...

    Fireworks and anxiety

Thank you for your suggestions. I didn't know that Rescue Remedy had pet version. I was wondering if it would be ok to give the alcohol to cats. I'll check it out. Also, thank you for the other ideas.

    Fireworks and anxiety

Our neighborhood gets really crazy during 4th of July week. I'm trying to reduce stress level for our cats. What solutions have worked for you? Right now I'm thinking about: staying home and have music on, cover a crate with blankets so that our cats can hide, have a plug-in and spray feliway...

What do you do for hairballs?

I haven't seen hairballs since I started giving my cats only wet food with added water and slippery elm bark powder mixed in.

Wounds of unknown origin (warning: photos)

Years ago, when my outdoor cat had a wound looking like that, she was caught by barbed wire in our neighbor's backyard. It took a long time to heal. I was told that cat's skin is attached somewhat more loosely to the tissue underneath, so that they can move more freely, compared to humans, so it...

Wounds of unknown origin (warning: photos)

Is it possible that nail or screw is loose somewhere in your house? For example, underside of furniture? Or is there any leak from cleaning supplies?

Cat swallowed long ribbon - need advice

I see. They should know what they are doing. No Laxatone, then.

Cat swallowed long ribbon - need advice

Interesting... I thought Laxatone wasn't a laxative, but basically Vaselline.

Cat swallowed long ribbon - need advice

I'm so sorry that you're going through this. I don't have the same experience, but I'd ask the vet if I could give him Laxatone or something to lubricate his intestine. I'd wait for a day for him to pass it, and if he doesn't I'd talk to the vet again about the surgery in details. If you have a...

How much to remove coins from cat's stomach?

I'd get X-ray. I think it's unlikely that your cat swallowed a quarter. You might find it under a sofa or something. But, peace of mind is priceless.

    Labored breathing

Sending prayers that Potbelly recovers quickly. Please keep us posted.  I don't know about chlorine poisoning but I'd think it could burn lungs if inhaled. I don't use chlorine around my cats.

    Labored breathing

My cat was playing, eating and purring when he had the breathing problem. I had no idea it was that bad, but x-ray clearly showed that it was an emergency. I also thought that it was infection or something but so glad that I took him to the emergency vet. It's really scary to think that I could...

    Labored breathing

He could, but he might be slowly dying.  It cannot heal itself. It's emergency.
