    Flying with my cat

Hi Everybody!  I am in a bit of a dilemma...and wanted to hear your opinion. In about two weeks time I am supposed to fly from Europe, where I live, to Canada, and stay there for a month. I am really thinking about bringing my persian cat of two years along with me. We have all the paperworks...

    Much needed advice :(

I agree. Problem is where I live, the practice of pet sitting and such isn't really common. It's a tricky situation, but that's a good idea. I am leaning towards postponing the surgery...I think he needs proper, stress-free care after surgery and being in a cage at the vet's for 6 days surely...

    Much needed advice :(

Dear cat lovers,  I turn to you because you will be able to advise me best. Here's my conundrum:  My 1.5 year old Persian cat has been struggling after he scratched his eye in October. Ever since then he has been wearing a collar as we tried to heal the cornea with topical medication. Alas, a...

    Chronic ear/eye problem

My kitty just doesn't seem to want to give me a break... To do a rundown- when we got him, he had ear mites and ringworm, both of which were taken care of. Then a couple of months later, the black stuff came again, turns out- mites. He scratched one evening, busted his eye. Got antibiotics for...

    Swallowing yarn, timeline

Indeed. Silly little creatures, but we love them.

    Swallowing yarn, timeline

So today the gauze started coming out, but he couldn't push it out...managed to get it half out and then started crying in pain. Rushed to the vet, she removed the rest of it (it was almost all out, just the last bit was lodged in there). He seems ok now, although he has been sleeping a bit more...

    Swallowing yarn, timeline

So, I brought my cat back from the vet after neuter. He was given an e-collar from before that I used on him to prevent him from licking his wound. The collar was held by a piece of string (It was actually a piece of cotton gauze that over time became string-like) around his neck. Well, I woke...

    Very sick cat.

Has she been dewormed? Could be worms which are taking away her nutrients/contributing to weightloss while she compensates by eating a lot.

    Pyrethrins poisoning

To follow up, we've been given Oridermyl, which also seems to have pyrethins, but in a much smaller dose, plus an anti-fungal property. He used it before, and now no more horrors of BioGroom. His ears have become much less red...so the stuff seems to be working, and the kitty is not going uber...

    Peeling paws?

I've posted recently about our nightmare with ear mites and scratched cornea on my 6 month old persian boy. He has been wearing and e-collar on and off for the past three weeks. Today I looked at his paws when he stretched one out for me to scratch and saw that his paw pads and fingers are...

How much do your male cats weigh?

My 6 month old persian weighs a whopping 8 lbs but he isn't fat...the vet said that is fine. The lady at the pet food store had a jaw-drop moment when I told her how big he is...she said that's "not normal"...but after snooping online I found out he is totally ok for a growing male persian.

    Pyrethrins poisoning

Ugh, I'm NOT putting this into his ears again. He is ok today, more than 30 hours later. I'm guessing he is fine? He's eating and awake and all of that. Can the poisoning happen the next day if he hasn't been in contact with the chemical since? We're seeing our vet tomorrow. Seriously, this ear...

    Pyrethrins poisoning

Hi guys. I am freaking out about an ear mite solution that my vet gave my 6 month old, 7lbs persian cat. She prescribed Bio-Groom Ear Mite treatment, which has a concentration of 0.15% pyrethrins. I've used it every other day for the past week on my cat, and I've noticed that as soon as I put...

What does a normal stomach look like?

Sorry, it was Advocate, my bad. My vet said it took care of intestinal worms. I have some paste as well...but I didn't give it to him yet.

What does a normal stomach look like?

He has been dewormed with Advantage once every month at the vet's and he has had regular check-ups. It's just that my vet asked me if his stomach is always a bit firm, or if he had stuff to eat before the visit. He ate about 60 grams of ground beef, so that could be the reason :D. His belly...

What does a normal stomach look like?

Hi guys. I was wondering what the "normal" stomach for a persian 6 month old cat would be? My kitten has a rounded belly, (because he is long haired, it really only becomes noticeable when he is wet). When I touch it, it isn't too soft or too hard. I can feel his ribs and his spine, but only...

Start of FIP or am I overreatcing?

Thank you so much Stephen! It seems that I've started taking my mild hypochondria out on my poor little kitty. He's really depressed about the e-collar and the eye ointments, and I keep waking him up to play (although he was sprinting for an hour around the flat and ate a bunch of food) just to...

Start of FIP or am I overreatcing?

Hi guys, I'm new here. I need some cat people like myself to hear me out because so far, everyone thinks I'm a bit crazy :) My 6 month old persian kitten started developing an eye infection in his left eye two days ago. The cornea was cloudy and he kept patting at it with his paw. He had been...
