My whole life I have been a friend of Feral kitties.  Living out 'in the country' in a nicer neighborhood in my childhood, a lot of cats were dumped there, I believe, because their owners knew they had the best chance of finding people to take care of them. Sometimes  we'd have 20 cats around...
