Our cat only "likes" me. :(

As said above, keep playing/feeding/cuddling her and she'll warm up. After all, you're the one that brought her into a new, safe home, so obviously she'll look to you for comfort. But over time she'll feel safe and secure around everyone in your family. My girlfriend's cat is only now starting...

Do cats mind sharing litter boxes?

Our 2 (spayed) females don't mind sharing at all. We have one XXL (Maine Coon-sized) box and they both use it all the time. Though I do realise that we're very lucky to be able to have this one-box setup. That said, what we have going on here goes against all the guidelines you'll find in books...

    Looking for a toy

Of our 2 cats, the youngest one also tries to run away with her catch, so we needed a similar solution to you (all fun and games, until she crawls onder the sofa with it and get stuck). So we purchased a "Flying Frenzy", which is the European answer to the American "Da Bird".  While the...

    My new cat Athena!

About the biter: First of all, take the biter to the vet and have him checked out. There might be a medical reason behind it. If he's completely fine, well.. What are you doing when he bites you? Is he coming up to you just to bite you? Does he bite you when you pet him? Does he bite you when...

    I need a behaviorist

While the majority of us aren't professionals, we (or most of us) do have some experience with a wide variety of cat behavior issues. Could you perhaps share some details on what exactly is happening and what you have done so far to introduce the cats to one another?

I can't tell if my adult cat is attacking or playing with my new kitten

Proper attacking would involve a ton of noise, hissing and the typical angry yowling. They will also first circle each other with their hair standing up and backs arched. Yours seem to like each other (cats won't groom other cats if they hate them, so yea.. I think they're just playing :) If...

Post a picture of your cat yawning ;)

I'll join in. Here's our youngest getting her yawn on.

    Strange behaviour towards new kitten

In that case, I think the kitten is just starting to develop his personality (and right now that's the personality of a teenager) and the older cat doesn't like that personality. Just like with humans, we can't expect cats to like everyone.

    Strange behaviour towards new kitten

Just to be sure: are both cats neutered? If not, the issue might be that the older cat is sensing some sort of threat because the kitten's hormones are kicking in.

    scratching posts and cat towers

We're currently using a scratching barrel of about 3 feet high and a heavy duty re-board custom-made tree. The barrel has 3 levels for them to sit and play in, and an extra padded area on top for them to sleep on. There's little to no risk tat it'll ever fall over and can handle quite a beating...

    Nail Clipping

I only need to clip the nails of one of our two cats (the other one just isn't the type of cat to use her nails all that often). I once started by picking her up in a somewhat restrained manner (my arm under her belly and her back against my chest) and giving her a treat. Once she stopped...

Please help me get some sleep!!!

Not too long ago we were in the same boat as you were. We had a kitten that was hellbent on waking us at around 6am every day, regardless of weekends or holidays. She would scratch at the door and cry constantly until we got up. It took a few weeks, but we did manage to get her to let us sleep...

Kitten lashing out after bad experiences

Why did you take your kitten into class? Cats easily get stressed out when introduced to completely new environments, and if his first experience with a completely new surrounding = annoying bathing rituals.. Well then you're just looking for trouble. He has most likely associated you with the...
