Aggressive territorial behavior in former stray

My boy is doing well! He got neutered on Monday. He had been doing fairly well before that, and I was afraid the procedure might set him back / freak him out, but he's been more cuddly than ever! I think he now fully associates me with his food (his seemingly only motivation in life) and is...

Help w/ New Stray - Aggressive, 7-8yr old, Not Yet Neutered, Male

Thanks everyone! I was afraid he would be cranky after the surgery. Instead he is more cuddly than ever. He has started head butting my face and hasn't hissed or growled at all. He has nibbled at my hands and feet, but they are obviously only nibbles and not biting anymore. Maybe he thinks that...

Help w/ New Stray - Aggressive, 7-8yr old, Not Yet Neutered, Male

Well, he is officially less of a man cat! Lol.  I went to pick him up, and they had put the blanket I had used to cover his kennel in with him, and I was afraid he'd be freaked out going outside. He immediately tunneled under the blanket himself, haha. He's in his room now, didn't even attempt...

Help w/ New Stray - Aggressive, 7-8yr old, Not Yet Neutered, Male

Thanks! He got in his kennel so nicely for me this morning, I felt really guilty leaving terrified him at the vet! But hopefully he'll be happier in a few weeks without all the hormones, and then hopefully we can start some proper introductions with the other cats in the house.

Help w/ New Stray - Aggressive, 7-8yr old, Not Yet Neutered, Male

Neuter is officially scheduled for Monday!! Yay!!! The vet is still concerned about the blood work but agreed with me that he certainly doesn't seem symptomatic in any way and that even if there does turn out to be some bigger issue, everything will almost certainly be easier to deal with if he...

I certainly hope neutering will help him! Sorry you are also dealing with an aggressive boy. :(

Aggressive territorial behavior in former stray

Hey, subscribing to your thread since your issue is similar to mine. My guy has calmed a little as he has realized that I am the one feeding him, I think. He will regress a bit if he is reminded that there are other cats living in the same apartment, or if our routine is disrupted. In my case...

Help w/ New Stray - Aggressive, 7-8yr old, Not Yet Neutered, Male

Sigh. Well, he's not getting neutered today. The vet decided that even though his anemia had definitely improved that they were nervous about putting him under without knowing exactly what had caused it, so they decided to push it back. This only frustrates me because I'm pretty sure he was...

Help w/ New Stray - Aggressive, 7-8yr old, Not Yet Neutered, Male

He's a very smart little guy! He's catching on (too) fast! I felt bad last night because I had gotten a shoe rack for my closet, so I wanted him to go into the bathroom for a bit, because I knew he wouldn't be happy with me carrying this big thing into his room and trying to get it into the...

Help w/ New Stray - Aggressive, 7-8yr old, Not Yet Neutered, Male

This morning he let me get out of bed without getting angry or biting me! I think he is starting to get that my getting up = food time, and not just the end of cuddling time!

Help w/ New Stray - Aggressive, 7-8yr old, Not Yet Neutered, Male

Luckily we have quite the stash of Nature's Miracle. My old cat with kidney issues would pee all over. The only thing I was really worried about was some running shoes, which are soaking, everything else I just threw away. I'm not too concerned about it. It was mostly old shoes and that towel. I...

    Orange Tabby? Ocicat? Something else?

Fyi, the vet is still on board with him being 7, after feeling his neck / jaw, and the condition of his teeth.

Help w/ New Stray - Aggressive, 7-8yr old, Not Yet Neutered, Male

Last night I found out he had been using my closet as a second litter box! Oh man. The stench of unneutered cat pee. I found a towel soaked in it an almost fainted. I lured him into our bathroom with some food and kept him in there so I could deep clean my room/closet. The closet is definitely...

Help w/ New Stray - Aggressive, 7-8yr old, Not Yet Neutered, Male

Went to the vet again today. I had covered his carrier with a blanket and when we were waiting for the vet, put it on the floor for him, and he dove under it and stayed there until the vet came in, so I left him some more blankets out on the floor and on my bed. Didn't know he liked to hide...

Help w/ New Stray - Aggressive, 7-8yr old, Not Yet Neutered, Male

He does not like the wand toy we have, or at least I don't think that he does, as he will play with it, but starts growling in a way that I think it's making him anxious and he doesn't understand it's a toy, so I stopped using it. I have a laser toy coming in the mail, hopefully today, as well...

Help w/ New Stray - Aggressive, 7-8yr old, Not Yet Neutered, Male

He seems to WANT to like people, but yeah, he is obviously extremely uneasy about it. He doesn't seem to like when I am sitting on the floor anymore than when I am standing up. (And now I'm pretty terrified to be face level with him, lol.) It just seems like everything I do threatens him, and...

Help w/ New Stray - Aggressive, 7-8yr old, Not Yet Neutered, Male

I'm starting to second-guess my ability to deal with this guy. I was not at home the night before last, so my roommate went in and fed him for me, but didn't really hang out with him at all. By the time I got home he was really amped up. I shut the other cats away and let him out into the rest...

    Orange Tabby? Ocicat? Something else?

Right now the most plausible thing to me is that he's a pretty spotted tabby that someone was breeding. I didn't realize how different dog and cat breeds were before I started looking into this. I'm learning a lot with this guy!
