I scaled back on the amount of Primal I’m feeding her and am back to mostly cups. I haven’t had a chance to get to the store yet, but I may try the Tiki chicken strips... I think making my own raw would be a little easier if she could handle chicken/poultry again. There hasn’t been any more...
I guess I thought I was giving her simple food because I was feeding her only LID canned rabbit and LID kibble. She completely stopped eating the canned rabbit though, and the only thing I could get her to eat was the cups.
Also, I had a change of heart on the primal beef/salmon as well, and...
Cam is unfortunately now having a bout of diarrhea... outside of her box... any ideas? Is it possible I transitioned her back to mostly raw too quickly??? Things were going so well! 😩
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who suggested new foods for Cam to try! I stopped at my local pet health food store, and they only carry Primal of all the brands suggested. The store unfortunately stopped carrying pork and venison (two proteins I don't think she's ever had and was...
@CHIKITTIES Thanks so much for that article, I think it’s very possible she’s just getting bored. It’s just hard to find proteins she hasn’t already shown difficulty with—I’ll try some of the other raw brands and toppers! Very helpful!
@Furballsmom
Thanks for the suggestions! I think my local store carries Primal. I love that it comes in rabbit, as well as venison and pork! Maybe she'll try one of those... I haven't heard of either of the other brands but it looks like they can both be ordered online. I will look into them...
I've been feeding my cat, Cam, a mostly raw (Stella and Chewy's, rotating protein) diet for the last 5 years or so. I transitioned her when she was dealing with an awful IBS flareup and her phosphorus levels were dangerously low. (I wrote about that here Dealing with constipation on raw diet) At...
I just looked at the cups and they seem like really good quality but on the package it says it’s a “meal complement”. I never know how to balance those with other food but I did get her a couple of rabbit pouches as “treats”.
Thank you everyone for your feedback and concern. I brought Cam to the vet today because she's had some more frequent hairballs, and then vomiting a clear liquid (no color or any solids in it). The vet wasn't concerned about her having a fever (thank you for that suggestion, I keep checking her...
Has anyone found a good replacement to this? My IBD cat LOVED it, specifically the rabbit, and I'm having trouble finding something similar (price point, protein variety, not paté). Any tips would be wonderful!
It's very possible I'm worrying over nothing, but my cat has an incredible appetite, most of the time. She wakes me up every morning begging for breakfast, and in the evening for her dinner as soon as I walk in the door. She meows very loudly until I place it in front of her, and scarfs all her...
@LisaHE I actually appreciate the phosphorus information too! Cam was at a dangerously low level of phosphorus (1.5), then we made the transition to raw food. The highest it ever was was 4.0 and currently it's 3.0, which I guess is on the low end of normal, but I'm always going to be concerned...
I've been feeding my cat, Cam, a raw diet for about 3 years now. She has always struggled with IBD but it wasn't diagnosed until she was 7 (she's 10 now). I made the switch to raw with the help of this message board, and I fully believed it saved her life. I feed her mostly Stella & Chewy's...
Thank you, both for that advice. The commercial raw is a little expensive, but, I'm ordering it online now, bulk orders with coupon codes, so that last order I made worked out to about $.60 per meal. I was getting her Science Diet, and Rx cat food, so I feel like for now it's about the same...
