I am just reading this now. I am so sorry for your loss Marian D. Cookie is still hanging in there, but she is not doing well. I opted to have her tumor removed in November and she was doing well til now where i can feel a few lumps on her belly. I opted for surgery because her tumor burst...
My Cookie has mammary cancer and her tumor has ulcerated, I took her to the vet and they gave her an antibiotic and cleaned it up well, I wanted to know if anyone can recommend anything to clean the area so It doesn't become infected again.
@ MarianD and HocusPocus:
I hate seeing my cat like this, it tears me up inside knowing that this will eventually take her life. I also hate that I cannot help her. Even if i put her through surgery, I feel she would suffer from the pain of it as well. It is a lose lose situation. I just...
I am sorry about your cat but glad she made it through the surgery and is doing good. I wanted to ask you how big was the tumor when you discovered it and was it in her lymph nodes? It is hard to deal with this.
@ Marian D, I am sorry. Has the tumor grown alot from the time it was found in January? I am worried about Cookie. She seems like she is in pain. They gave her a depo medrol shot and they said it would help with pain but its been a week and a half since she got it and it seems like she is...
Hi, yes both seem proanthozone and omega 3 fatty acid seem to help her have more energy. If I may ask, how long has your kitty had the cancer now since being diagnosed?
Thanks, she is ok how is your kitty doing? My cat has a tumor about 1.5 cm and a couple pea sized ones under her skin. For cookie, they wanted to do a unilateral mastectomy and chemo. I know a lot of people who went through the with surgery and their cats only made it 6 months to a year even...
I just stumbled upon this thread and wanted to say my cat is going through the same thing. She has mammary cancer and I cannot afford the surgery and treatment. It is upwards of $4000 and I feel so guilty because I wish I had the money to help her. She is 12 years old and seems okay for now...
LDG, thank you. Yes it is a hard cancer to deal with, I also went through it with another kitty i had, it was hard to deal with, I hate cancer butI will look that website up, thanks for the advice.
Hi vball91, she has mammary cancer. The vet said even with surgeries and removal of her mammary glands the tumors will return within a year because the cancer is malignant so I am opting out of that option, as I know she would be miserable and i dont want to put her through 2 surgeries, she is...
Hi
I would def. wait for the x-ray. Blood count is one thing but x-ray is another. The blood test can tell if her cell count is elevated but an x-ray can give a more clear picture of what is going on.
Hi everyone:
Has anyone on here tried any holistic ways to treat their cats and if so what was the outcome? Also if you switched their food and has it helped? My cat has cancer and i am looking for any advice.
Thanks
Heather
Hi,
I would try taking him to another vet to get a second opinion. I know you said you don't have alot of money, but they should know whats going on with your kitty. There is a carecredit card that can help if your low on $. Did they do x-rays? Hope you get some answers. Let us know
Hi,
Hopefully your cat is better now, the sleeping all the time could be from the medicine. Please if you can keep your kitty inside and don't let them out. My one cat died when I was 6, my mom let him out all the time and he got FeLV because he was bitten by another animal, we had to take him...
Thank you for your advice, I'm not sure if I am going to do the surgery. I want her to live her last time left as comfortable as possible and not being cut open, as I know she would hate it and probably suffer, she already hates going to the vet and she has a 2 1/2 cm tumor, I spoke to the vet...
Yes, that is what I was thinking as well. Why would they only want to do a lumpectomy on her? I am going to get a second opinion. I am also wondering if anyone went through with the surgery on their cat and if the lumps came back, and how the cat was after surgery, in pain...etc I am on the...
Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum and I found out this past Monday that my cat Cookie, has mammary tumors. I went to the vet on Monday after I found a lump on her belly. She is still eating and drinking and acting normally. They said they can do the surgery but it would be $1,700. The vet...
