Help-I'm desperate! My cat won't stop scratching and is miserable

I've been told dogs are much easier to heal than cats. I certainly agree that cats aren't easy.

Help-I'm desperate! My cat won't stop scratching and is miserable

We spent 1,000.00 to have Gizmo tested by a feline dermatologist a number of years ago. He's allergic to everything around here..I think even the air!! :lol3: Gizmo had urinary crystals which resulted in 2 surgeries and was put on Hills rx CD. Now he had to be switched to WD to help control...

    My cat is sneezing?!!!

We paid over 1,000.00 for allergy testing on out guy. Have you tried giving some Llysine to see if that helps? It might do the trick, worth a try I would think.

    Tapering off Prednisolone

That is such a small amount. At one point years ago I stopped giving it to Gizmo without tapering. Of corse sine then he went back on in the form of shots.

Has/is anyone using Transdermal gel Prednisone for their cats?

According to our vet, it gets absorbed very well and from the results thus far, that seems to be true. What we are using is a "pen" that you turn releasing the measured amount of gel. You them simply massage the gel into the inside of the ear...not into the ear canal but on the inside of the...

    weaning off prednisolone

We have our little guy on prednisone for allergies. He has been on shots for 5 years. I started a thread on transdermal gel prednisone where I talk about what we're doing now and how it's working, but it is with the advice of our vet. It might be helpful to you

Help-I'm desperate! My cat won't stop scratching and is miserable

It's not the best thing, but we made the decision that while there are dangers down the road, we want him to be happy and breakout free. We have had no side effects in the 5 years he's been in the shots. Now with the new transdermal gel that we've started, we hope to find a low dosage that...

Help-I'm desperate! My cat won't stop scratching and is miserable

Yes, ex only from Hills Science Diet. I know some people think their food is junk but it has been very beneficial to Gizzy for his allergies and crystals. We went the longest without allergy breakouts when he was on The ZD formula.

Help-I'm desperate! My cat won't stop scratching and is miserable

So sorry to hear of your baby's problem. I can tell you that our male has been on prednisone for 5 years for allergies. He's allergic to multiple things. He did better on the Hills hypoallergenic wet food (I forget which one that isn't) but then due to crystals, we had to put him on CD...

The raod to finding a solution with our allergy felines is indeed a long road. Gizmo is 6 and he has been fighting this battle sine he was 9 mo. old. I've learned that what works for one doesn't work for another. I wish you luck in finding your solution.

    Prednisolone Side Effects

My guy has been getting prednisone for over 5 years with no side effects, but he's getting it for allergies, so I would guess that would maybe make a difference. I hope you and your vet find out the problem and he gets back to his old self.

We gave Gizmo's mixed with food. Unfortunately, it didn't work for him. How is it working with George?

Has/is anyone using Transdermal gel Prednisone for their cats?

We had never heard of it until a month ago. Gizmo has had bad allergy problems since he was a baby. We have gone round and round trying unsuccessfully to find a good treatment for him. A month ago our vet suggested we try this product and it seems to be working. We have now gone 2-1/2 months...
