I do have a question: are there cats that will sleep by themselves in their own room (where the litter box and food are)? We don't want a cat that needs to sleep with us.

I'm new to the forum and am interested in getting a cat for the first time. I have 2 kids (ages 9 and 6) and am looking for a fun cat that they can play fetch with. Pluses would be ones that come when called and greet strangers at the door.
Is this too much to ask? Which cat breed...
