    Mild cardiovascular disease

Thanks guys! Oh, I didn't realize that was unusual in cats! We're not sure how old he is exactly, he might be 9.

    Mild cardiovascular disease

I'm not sure whether I should post this in Cat Heath or Nutrition- but anyway here goes :) My pal has some fatty deposit buildup in his heart- it's quite mild at this point, but obviously I can't let it get any worse. His heart is otherwise healthy. Does anyone else here have a cat with similar...

Mild/moderate exercise for somewhat senior cat

I don't want to overwork my pal too much (he can be pretty sprightly, but lacks stamina), but for the sake of his health I've been advised to make him exercise more. I've tried the usual toss-a-ball-of-wadded-paper stuff, but was wondering if anyone has tips for giving him some lighter, more...

    Adjusting sleep schedule

Cats being cats, this was always going to be an inevitable issue, but my pal recently has started taking most of his catnaps during the hours we're home from work, and is all ready to play and start the day at 2am. Any suggestions on helping with adjusting his sleeping schedule back?

    BalanceIT

Hi guys,     Has anyone tried this to create a nutritionally complete homemade meal for their cats? Would love to hear more about forumers' experiences with this product.

    FirstMate canned food

Is there anyone here who buys these for their cats? It seems a good brand in that it's BPA and carrageenan free. I know some people are concerned about the potatoes in there. It seems there's so much crap in pet food that I guess I'll just have to settle for the least of all the evils. What do...

Working singles- leaving cat home alone

Thanks so much for the replies! ( Lamiatron- Charlie and Jet are adorable :P ) So far I usually never leave my boy more than 4-5 hours alone at a time... but that will have to change soon as I get busier. I'm quite relieved knowing that others have to leave their moggies alone for longer periods...

Working singles- leaving cat home alone

Wow, very comprehensive replies- thanks @Lamiatron and @Mservant! Good idea about leaving some worn clothes for him to sniff. Just curious, on average, how many hours a day do you leave your kitties home alone for?

Working singles- leaving cat home alone

For those who are out and about a fair bit, how do you keep your cat occupied (and safe!) while you're away? Do you let your pawed pal roam the house freely, or restrict him/her to the bedroom etc? How long do you typically leave your cats alone for- any particular pitfalls to avoid? How have...

    Sudden maniac episodes

Thanks guys- am monitoring to see if there's any trigger that I might've missed (i have a few clues, so am re-arranging stuff to see how that goes).

    Home-cooked meals?

    Thanks guys!

    Sudden maniac episodes

My pal is the sweetest, gentlest, and friendlies moggy you'll find. He's had a few episodes over the last week (they just started at the beginning of this week, so it's really recent behavior) that are a little disconcerting though- he'll suddenly start looking about in a panic- like something...

    Home-cooked meals?

Hi guys, so far I've been feeding my pal a mixture of canned food and dry food. Am thinking of preferably switching him to a diet of home-cooked food, but am totally clueless in that area- what are the pros and cons of home-cooked food? Would it be all right to have a mixture of canned food, dry...

    Rapid, irregular breathing

Thanks again! The vet checked both the heart and lungs and gave me a detailed explanation- no problem with lungs, and no problem with heart that the X-ray can tell. At this stage it's still a complete mystery. Again, I fully trust my vet, I guess the main thing is at this stage there isn't...

    Rapid, irregular breathing

Thanks, I appreciate that :) They didn't do a blood test, actually. Is this something I should look into? They don't think it's anything because he seems in good health for his (estimated) age; no wheezing, panting, or anything like that. Just really weird breathing patterns.

    Rapid, irregular breathing

Hard to tell if there's any one thing that sets it off, it happens quite frequently throughout the day. Not related to exercise, he's usually chilling out and resting on his side when it happens.

    Rapid, irregular breathing

Hi guys, the sweetest moggy adopted me recently, and it's been a total blast hanging out with the little guy. He's a dream cat- but there's one thing that's been nagging at me, and that's his breathing. I notice that he has pretty frequent ( but short) episodes of rapid, irregular breathing...
