Semi Feral kittens - 13 weeks

Hi all, We went out to trap the 4th kitten last night but from what we can tell, it seems like mom is very small and that an employee must have mistaken mom for a 4th kitten.  When the kittens were originally trapped they were very unconcerned with the trap and walked right in while mom was...

Semi Feral kittens - 13 weeks

I have to post one more update...  I just fed the treat wet food, my kitties favorite.  Aries smelled it and needed to come for a bite.  I was petting him and he was eating and the kittens came up and all three let me pet them while they ate.  Aries just backed off as soon as they pushed their...

Questions about a recovered stray/feral(?) cat

I just read this thread.  What a great story!  Lucky Oliver.  It's amazing how far they will come with lots of time and patience.  :)

Semi Feral kittens - 13 weeks

Thanks for the advice everyone!  I have a small cage that I use for adoption events, I could use that for the 4th kitten as I don't have an adoption event coming up until Nov 30th.  I think that's a great idea - keep it with it's siblings but in the crate until I can assess and it can get used...

Semi Feral kittens - 13 weeks

I could use a bit more advice.   First off, things are going well.  They are eating from a dish on my lap and from my hand and tolerate me well, especially when hungry.  Still very little touching is ok and no sudden movements, but having them on my lap and eating is great.  It's coming along...

Semi Feral kittens - 13 weeks

Hi all, Just a quick update.  I've moved them to a spare bathroom out of my quarrantine cages.  This way I can sit on the floor with them and be at their level and I'm never reaching into their space; they have to come to me.  I was told to keep them separate as the more feral ones will instill...

Semi Feral kittens - 13 weeks

The rescue I work with deals with strays and takes in a lot of cats that would be euthanized at the pound due to lack of space, so we focus on the cats that are adoptable but facing euthanasia.  We don't really work with ferals at all due to lack of resources. This business donates quite...

Semi Feral kittens - 13 weeks

Hi all, I volunteer and foster with a rescue that recently took in 3 semi-feral kittens.  We don't normally work with ferals but this was a favor to a business that donates generously so we couldn't really say no....  Kittens are about 13 weeks old, so unfortunately a bit old for easy taming...

Elavil (Amitriptyline) for cats - any experience?

Haha - not an option!  I have four of my own, including two foster fails...  If I fail on others won't be able to foster more, so they all have to find fover homes elsewhere (but they are welcome here as long as it takes!).  Four permanent residents is more than enough for me (especially when...

Elavil (Amitriptyline) for cats - any experience?

Thank you!  I've done some research on the drug but I hadn't found that page.   Charm is managing quite well and healing nicely, so it is just a matter of time before the sutures come out.  I'm just hoping that after that I can wean her off of the meds, take her cone off and find her a nice...

Elavil (Amitriptyline) for cats - any experience?

Hi all - does anyone have any experience with this medication for cats?  I have a little foster who is on 10 mg twice daily to help with anxiety - she had a tail and toes from two feet amputated due to frostbite and slipped the cone and chewed them up pretty badly after the first surgery (she...

    Lots of Fur Pictures!

Thanks all.  :)  Aries is a sweetie - just the most mellow cat ever, he's wonderful for fostering and for visiting Grandma!  It usually takes an extra 30-60 mins per visit when I see her because all the old ladies want to pet him. Kumba is doing great, he's just a total love and loves rolling...
