Why don't you just have the vet trim the nails. They do a great job.

Too funny!

My daughter usually holds Kitty Kitty on her lap and in kitty's favorite blanky. She pets her and keeps her calm until we arrive to wherever we're going. We've never had a problem. Hope this helps.
