    Problem with cats ear

Awwwww~she's so adorable! ORAL steroids (prednisolone) is the main starting treatment for pemphigus so if there is even a slight chance (sounds like the vet said there is a chance), you should see improvement on the steroid. (if it does end up being pemphigus, the injectable steroid is not a...

    Troubled kitty with dermatological problems

Did you get any results from your vet on the blood work?  She looks miserable, poor kitty :(    Are you seeing a dermatologist or just the "regular" vet?  I would definitely recommend a specialist for sure.   Wish I had a "oh I've seen that before" reply for you :(

Need help with saving my elderly cat. WARNING - Graphic image

I think you owe it to the cat to bring it to the vet to at least get it checked out to make the determination if it's a "quick fix" or not.  If he's in obvious pain with it, he needs to go to the vet.  Neosporin may give temporary relieve over tonight before bringing him to the vet tomorrow.  If...

    Problem with cats ear

Also just going to mention that not all vets even are familiar with pemphigus...although its a common autoimmune disease~its rare in cats so unfortunately that's why it took me awhile for diagnosis...finding a vet that even was good enough to suspect it!   So glad to read that you are going for...

    Problem with cats ear

I don't think it's safe to just assume its an infection. I am in no way trying to scare you but that's how my girl's ears started out when she was diagnosed with pemphigus foliaceus.  Please google and do research to see if it fits the symptoms/look of the lesions. Only way to get confirmation...

D-Mannose before urine culture and sensitivity for suspected UTI?

Hello, My cat has a vet appt tomorrow to get some urine and then do a urine culture and sensitivity.  Last week a urine sample was collected and a urinalysis was done showing greater than 100 cocci and protein.  So bringing her in tomorrow to collect another sample so they can do the urine...

Difficulty treating ill cat - please help

I just wanted to stop by and say how sorry I am for your loss.  My cat actually has pemphigus.  She was diagnosed in April but by the time the vets even considered that, she had gone undiagnosed for 4 months!  We are still dealing w/ flares and trying to get her off high doses of triamcinolone...

    DGL licorice for stomach ulcers

Has anyone given DGL licorice to their cat and if so, dosing??? Has it been helpful for results you were looking for? I can only find the chewable tablets at my local health store and was thinking maybe a 1/4 of a chewable tablet would be a good start? Not finding a ton of info on it online...

    IBS and Vitamin B12 injections

I gave my cat her first injection last Friday and for her, it gave her a little pep in her step. She seemed to have a bit more energy. No throwing up problems from her. As far as how often...my vet says we'll do once/WEEK for 4 weeks and go from there...seems to me that once/MONTH would be...

cat skin sores ( WARNING GRAPHIC IMAGES)

I know this is an old post but when I see skin issues, I just want to make people aware of an autoimmune disease called pemphigus~~very nasty disease and intensely itchy for the cat.  If you/your vet are having trouble identifying a problem and there are dry scaly skin spots, please google...

Now to find dosing info for cats for the dgl licorice....

    Stomach ulcer from oral steroid/atopica?

So would the licorice root block nutrients as well?  Not sure if this stuff would work similarly to sucralfate and do more "coating" of her stomach which would eventually block some nutrients from getting through?   So far I'm liking the research I'm finding but just looking online to make sure...

    Stomach ulcer from oral steroid/atopica?

No, not on any antibiotics now.  Do you use the coated tablet prilosec?  That's what i have right now but not sure if i can cut the coated tablet if that would change how it works in her.  I know to give 1/4 tablet once a day though.  Yes, she is still on the steroids unfortunately.  They need...

    Stomach ulcer from oral steroid/atopica?

Hello~ My cat has an autoimmune disease so has been on chronic oral steroids and oral liquid atopica (cyclosporine) daily since June 2013.  I'm wondering if anyone has a cat that has been on either of these two medications that ended up giving the cat stomach ulcers?  I've given her 30 days of...

Cat has a big bald spot on her hind leg!

That is definitely not hair pulling from the baby. Its probably either very itchy or very sore-either way shes probably very uncomfortable. U could try neosporin or if your vet will prescribe it without seeing her, animax ointment-wonderful product-Google it if u think this would help her...
