    Ziggy and Milo in Oz

Russian Blues -- aha. They are lovely. I've only seen them once in 'real life'. Interesting cats that really bond with their humans. Mine are are like that, especially Milo, which makes me think he has a bit of Burmese (or similar) in him.

    Ziggy and Milo in Oz

I did wonder whether it was a good or bad thing to visit my cats in quarantine.  (Do they feel worse when you leave?) My vet in London moved from South Africa and his cat was in quarantine for 6 months, he did think visiting them was better...  but who knows for sure?  (His cat wouldn't eat, so...

How many words does a cat "understand" ?

My cats definitely understand specific words and gestures.  They know their names - if both are in the room, they will look to me when their own name is spoken, so it's not just my tone. 'up up up' --  was possibly first thing they learned as kittens, meaning 'upstairs to bed'. Cat food...

    "Double jointed" tail?

Your cat colony sounds fascinating and Gin kun is lovely. There is a Japanese bobtail cat with short curly tail, but I don't know how common they are.  I wonder if your cats are like those at all?  Pics would be interesting.  The maneki neko is a Japanese bobtail...  (my sister lived in Japan...

    Ziggy and Milo in Oz

Thanks, Mani.  Yes - the boys are settled in now; quarantine is obviously necessary, but stressful for the cats --  and owners!  Six weeks is a long time...  but it used to be 6 months in the UK which must have been awful for all concerned.

    "Double jointed" tail?

Haha - re: not managing to get photo of kitten with curly tail.  Ziggy is now 2, so a little bit easier, but not much!  Here we go- not great photos, but at least the curly tail is visible.  In addition to previous, he is very sweet tempered, quite a small cat, and very vocal.  He likes to...

    "Double jointed" tail?

Just found this site after first trip to vets in Australia --  tried to describe to new vet how my cat's tail curls over his back -- when he isn't scared. From what I've read, it is a genetic mutation.  I adopted two kittens (brothers) from Batterseas Dog and Cat home in London; one has a curly...
