My cat Nico is about to turn 1 years old. He has recently gone from vomiting 1 to 2 times a month to 3 to 4 times a week. He always vomits at night typically around 11pm. His energy levels seem the same and he doesn't seem to be losing weight. He has always had a sensitive stomach and is on a...
I've been giving the cats a mix of 1/3 wellness 2/3 royal canin which both cats were doing ok on, until tonight when Nico has puked, had diarrhea and has been peeing excessively. I think something else is up. He is sleeping in my lap purring right now, but it's to the vet in the morning or...
Nico had diarrhea last night and was less energetic this morning. I felt so guilty I went to the vet before work and took the old food home so he would have something safe to eat. I'll look into probiotics though to see if it helps his sensitive stomach.
Thanks for your advice. I'll ask the vet about probiotics.
Yhe transition was over a period of 10 days, and I do give each cat about a quarter of a can of wet food a day. I'm only switching the dry food they eat though.
I have two 7 month kittens, Nico & Percy. When I first got Nico he had been fed whatever food was cheapest (it looked like dog food) and was having diarrhea. The vet put him on a dewormer for a week and had me start feeding the cats Royal Canine gastro intestinal high energy. I get this from my...
Good idea! I will ask my vet about it. When I woke up this morning one of the kittens had thrown up, and I am going to guess it was Nico since he is the one who's been sick. He is still playful, but he has lost his appetite. Something is definitely up! Hope he is feeling better soon!
I took him to the vet this afternoon. They checked his stool sample, and even though it came back negative for worms, they have me giving him an oral dewormer for the next 5 days. They also put him on a dry food that is prescription for sensitive stomachs.
He is still having diarrhea though...
Last Saturday I adopted a 10 week old stray kitten. Nico has been to the vet, gotten his first round of vaccines, dewormed etc. He was doing fine until today when he started having diarrhea. It looks like pate and smells awful. He is still active and playful.
I will call the vet tomorrow but...
Thanks, they still have a ways to go, but at least we're moving in the right direction!
I copied YouTube URL, and then pasted it using the link button. Not sure if that's how to get it embedded.
Good advice everyone and thank you! I'm already seeing improvement. Since they only see each other at feedings, they don't seem as aggressive with each other. I let them socialize until the wrestling gets too rough, and then I separate them again. This is how they were playing after their dinner!
At first it was just Percy beating on Nico, but now it goes in turns. I think I will keep feeding them together and slowly increase the time they spend together after eating. Hopefully in a week or two they'll be more accustomed to each other and be more relaxed around each other.
Thanks! I'm a first time cat owner, and feeling a bit overwhelmed. I'll try taking it slower. My vet made it seem like I shouldn't separate them, but that doesn't seem to be helping.
My friend's neighbor found a litter of stray kittens. I took Percy home when he was 5 weeks old. After a few weeks Percy was playing really rough with me and always wanted to wrestle, so I thought he would enjoy having a playmate. Yesterday I brought home another one of his littermates. Nico is...
Ok, I took the grey kitten and the woman who found them is going to keep the pointed cat which was his favorite from the litter. I have Percy and Nico at home, but Percy hates Nico. Any tips?
Good idea about the Siamese rescue! I know my friend's family is obsessed with Siamese cats and i'm sure more people in area are as well! My apartment complete only allows for 2 pets sadly or I would take both.
