Just an update. Good news. I took the advice of a few and thought it might be the carageenan. Against the advice of the vet who told me that she has allergies and to keep her on venison for a year, I took her off the EVO venison, which had carageenan. I put her back on First Mate Chicken...
Wow, OskarBlues, that was incredibly helpful.
She has an enormous, insatiable appetite when she's not sick, and even on the days she's vomiting, she is interested in eating if she's at least an hour between vomits.
It's true... there is carageenan in almost all the higher end cat foods. The...
Also, the reason why I am writing here is that my vet does not know what caused the vomiting, even after her tests. She did some online research. Although she is a cat specialist, I wonder if someone on this forum may have experience with similar issues and may have some suggestions for me...
Thanks all for the replies.
I feed her four times a day: 7:00, 12:00, 6:00, 10:00-11:00.
I would like to find out how jcat solved the problem for the kitten with IBD, but jcat posts a lot so I will have to take some time to go through the threads.
Interesting suggestion that it could be the...
Hello all,
I have an 8 month old kitten who I adopted with her fraternal sister. A few months ago, she began vomiting up her food maybe once a month. About a month ago, in the morning we found clear foamy or white vomit on the floor, and she continued to vomit every half hour until she...
There is also the Koolatron Pet Dish from costco.ca, with mixed reviews. http://reviews.costco.ca/2070-en_ca/10301977/koolatron-koolatron-pet-dish-six-days-reviews/reviews.htm It is only $40, and can be set at 6 hour intervals. It comes with two ice packs. Most problems seems to be related...
If you have $550 to spend, you can get the Catsomat from Germany, which has 7 trays. Not only does it refrigerate to refrigerator temperatures, but it also pre-warms the food to room temperature as well. No, I don't have that kind of money, but maybe you do? I just called and a cat sitter...
I suspect that it doesn't work for *some* pine pellets. The ones I buy are just large enough to be too wide to fall through, and mostly too long. There are some wood pellets that are smaller and shorter. So you really need to bring some with you when you shop and try them for size.
The wood...
Oh, and I ended up buying the Van Ness CP5 because I couldn't find the Breeze system anywhere in Canada. The sifting trays were only $19 at Canadian Tire, and you are getting lots for your money: a sifting tray, and two regular trays that stack underneath it. So you can sift into one, dump the...
I like to sift the sawdust through at least once a day, but you can get lazy and do it every few days, but much harder to sift out a large amount of sawdust. Use a thin layer of pellets only, less than an inch, so it is easy to use a scoop to move the litter around and the sawdust falls through...
I would like to know the answer to this as well.
I have been using a sifting litter tray, but not sure of the brand since I got it used from a shelter, the shifting section only.
The wood pellets I buy have not been treated with a chemical, and it actually says that on the package, and says it...
Both the dog and cat versions had taurine added. I suppose that is unusual? Well, I will finish the "dog food" can. Funny, if they hadn't pointed it out to me, I never would have known that a dog food could be a cat food, given that dogs need more of a mix of foods.
Stefan Z, fascinating...
