Litter Box Wars: Two Alpha Males

Yes, they are both neutered. Moe eats canned food exclusively, except for a very few occasional crunchy treats. CB gets canned food for his main meals, but he loves kibble so he gets it daily....he's a beggar and husband cannot stand to let him cry for the crunchy yummies.

Litter Box Wars: Two Alpha Males

I'm having a problem with two of my male cats. We've had Moe since birth, now nine years old. He's the alpha of my pack and is inside only. About a year and half ago, a stray cat appeared on our porch. He was attacked by a dog and had major damage to his abdomen. We nursed him back to health and...

New Cat Spraying Inside The Litterbox

Oh, excellent thought! I don't know why this didn't occur to me, since a couple of mine have UT issues. He eats canned food twice a day, but he also eats a lot of kibble throughout the day. Drinks a lot of water, too. We need to get him to the vet for a check up anyway, will see if we can get a...

New Cat Spraying Inside The Litterbox

Thanks for your reply. Will try to address all your points and questions. * Vet estimates that Chatterbox is 2-3 years old, so I wouldn't expect problems squatting due to age. During/after his surgery, when he was confined to the bathroom, he consistently squatted to pee, with just a couple of...

New Cat Spraying Inside The Litterbox

This will be long, sorry in advance. I've got a new-ish cat. He was a porch stray that was attacked by a neighbor's dog. Major damage to his belly, so we took him to the vet, had surgeries, and got him all healed up. During that time he was confined to an upstairs bedroom and bathroom, away from...

    Arm and Hammer Slide Litter?

Has anyone tried the new A&H Slide litter? I currently use their Clump and Seal brand and like it, but I don't like the scent of it. My cats also manage to track it all over the house despite the litter catching mats I have in front of every box. I have two males who like to stand up as they...

Clean oily residue from cat's face

My cat Pixie had extensive dental work done yesterday (10 teeth removed!) and they used some kind of eye lubricationg drops while she was anesthetized. It left a sticky greasy residue on her face that doesn't wipe away with water or dry cotton pads. She is wearing a cone for two weeks while her...

    Urine odor-remover without fragrance?

I've been using Nature's Miracle Just for Cats for a couple of years. I'm on the hunt now for an unscented or "other scented" product because I can't tolerate the fragrance of Nature's Miracle anymore. Maybe because I associate the scent with the smell of cat pee now? Anyway, this product DOES...

Time for a new fountain, looking for recommendations

UPDATE: I ended up buying the Pagoda fountain in red. I've had it for about a week and a half now and am quite pleased with it. The three cats who previously used the Drinkwell 360 all started drinking from the new Pagoda in about five days. For the first couple of days I had both plugged in...

Time for a new fountain, looking for recommendations

I'm thinking about getting a new fountain for my cats. I currently have a Drinkwell 360 in stainless steel. I've had it for several years, and the cats like it. But...It's gotten progressively harder to keep clean and I have to clean it more and more often. It's a pain to disassemble all the...

Rescued nearly drowned kittens, need advice

Update: Kittens went to the vet today to get a general exam and have their eyes looked at. Vet says they are generally healthy. Fecal exam negative, but all three got a two part broad spectrum dewormer and antibiotic ointment for their eyes. The male and one of the females will use the litter...

Rescued nearly drowned kittens, need advice

We managed to move momma and kittens to a bathroom, where they'll have more space to move around in. I have an appointment for the kittens on Monday morning to get their eyes checked out. Meanwhile, we are cleaning the goop out a couple of times a day. I plan to get momma spayed as soon as...

Rescued nearly drowned kittens, need advice

I need some advice, please. At the end of March or first of April, a neighborhood stray/semi-feral mom had three kittens at our neighbor's house. She moved them to a shelter on our porch on April 3. Within a day or so, she moved them again to the space under our deck. Momma has been coming to...

Rescued nearly drowned kittens, need advice

Status update: Momma cat is spending most of her time in the narrow gap between the side of the washing machine and the wall. Kittens have found their way to her and she is allowing them to nurse, thank goodness! She was hissy with them at first and swatted at them, but has settled down a bit...

Rescued nearly drowned kittens, need advice

I'm confused about the recipes, then. They all call for whole milk or condensed milk or evaporated milk, which are all cow's milk, correct? But if it has to be goat's milk I will have to stick with canned food mixed with water until it's safe to travel.

And I only have whole cow's milk. Will this be okay?

Rescued nearly drowned kittens, need advice

Ah, thank you! I should be able to do the first one. Can I just put it in a dish for them to drink on their own or must they be bottle fed?  Reading the description of the kitten ages, I think they are about three weeks old. Eyes are open, and they are moving around, but are very wobbly still.

Rescued nearly drowned kittens, need advice

Thank you both! I will cover up the crate a bit more. I don't have access to KMR right now due to area wide flooding. Best I can do at the moment is mix canned food with some water. I've seen two of the kittens eating it so far. I may be able to get out tomorrow if the rain abates. We have tried...
