Average lifespan of indoor female cat that's spayed?

Spaying a female cat or neutering a male cat helps but it doesn't necessarily add to the cat's lifespan.   Animals are like people.   We are either born with the best genes in the world or we inherit some diseases or illness from our parents.   I've had a female cat that passed at 14 and one...

New Here... My cat isn't eating or drinking

I am getting this thread in my email and I nearly responded but I then noticed that the posts were from September 2012!!!   Why do we get threads that are a year old?  Is there a way to stop this?

Something is wrong : Lethargic cat - Not Eating

At this point I'm not really sure who I'm responding to but if the cat is sick, bottom line...get him or her to a vet.   Please.

My cat won't eat or drink, barely moves

Sorry about your loss of Petey.    I have 5 cats and I know financially it's not easy.  Do try looking into Care Credit should you decide to take on another animal.   For those of us who are not wealthy, it's the only way to go.   Once again, I'm sorry for your loss.

My cat won't eat or drink, barely moves

Nasticanasta...see if you can find a rescue place that will help.   I use care credit as well.   I think  $1000 is outrageous for some tests.   Also...try giving the cat hairball medicine.   Sometimes they have hairballs that can't come out.   Call the humane society and see if they have a vet...

    Need Help for Lily

Just another update on Lily: I'm happy to report some new developments.    While her mom was alive,  I would only hear her speak in the middle of the night if they came into my bedroom.   Now I'm hearing her speak during the day and fairly often.   I found her playing with her toys too.   She...

Help please! New(ish) cat behaviour problems.

I appreciate your suggestion, but I don't believe in declawing and even if I did, my vet doesn't and won't do it.   Besides, Oliver won't hurt Lily.  He may be all boy, but he's a sweet boy.  Thanks so much for your input though.   All ideas are appreciated and taken into consideration because...

Help please! New(ish) cat behaviour problems.

I posted an update in the thread I started.  She's coming along slowly, but she's made some small advances.   For Lily, a small advance is huge.   She's pretty much adopted my living room and allows my other cat, Oliver to hang out with her.  She's been coming out more and I've made a special...

    Need Help for Lily

Otto, I had an orange stumpy tailed tabby named Miko who found me and a long haired orange tabby named Rufus who had me at meow.  I loved them both tremendously.  Even people who were not cat people loved them both.   They were so loveable and affectionate.  Both are over the bridge too.  I hope...

    Need Help for Lily

UPDATE on LILY: First of all, thank you all for your help.   I have not as yet done everything, but I will.    But here's a brief update.   Lily has adopted my living room as her home.   It's not confined in the sense that there is a door that closes her off, but I rarely use that room unless I...

Day 40 on feral kitten - not very much hope left

You are doing better than many.  Ferals need lots of time sometimes.  For one so young, I admire you and your efforts and applaud them.   Keep up the good work.

Help please! New(ish) cat behaviour problems.

Here is what I've found to be the best way to make both cats adjust.  Rub the forehead of one cat and then take that scent and rub it on the other's forehead.   Do the same with the other cat.  Your young cat is just playful and enegetic.  Whatever you do, rather than take it to the...

    Need Help for Lily

The thing also about Lily is that if I give her a scratching post all by herself...she will mark it.   I did give her a brand new door scratcher, which I sprayed with cat nip but so far...I haven't seen her use it, although I've been teaching all day.    I'm going to try those floral essences...

    Need Help for Lily

Thanks for asking.   I have been taking everyone's advice, little by little and so appreciative of all.  Lily is doling a little better.  I am home today so she was out from under the couch for a bit and when I gave the other cats their morning treats and put some closer to her "area", she came...
