What's best to feed large band of feral cats?

Thank you!!! Does wet food seem to fill their tummies better or why would you mix between the two? I live where there are very harsh winters and the food would likely freeze quickly. Luckily there is a mini horse living at the farm with a low water tank (only about 1 ft off the ground) so they...

    Lost cat-what can I do?

No. Sadly he has not returned. The humane society is on lookout and so are all neighbors, but it isn't looking very hopeful. I set a live trap and no sign of any animal turned up. I'm hoping he wandered to a house and someone took him unknowingly. I posted in the paper, on Facebook (cat rescue...

What's best to feed large band of feral cats?

I feed a large band of feral cats (around 20) through the winter. It's very hard for me to get there every day but I go 2x a week. I'm wondering what's the best to feed them nutrition wise? What will give them all they need at a low cost? Right now they're eating the cheapest food simply because...

    Distemper-eye irritation

Talked to the vet again, they said it is a strand of feline herpies and it flared up due to stress (new cat in the household). They prescribed a heavier antibiotic and said if it isn't wiped out to call. Do you think I should get a second opinion? That was my original plan but they were filled...

    Distemper-eye irritation

No opthamologist. :( I live in a very small town with only 2 vet clinics. I will definitely have him looked at again, wouldn't want my dear friend in any pain! Thanks for your help.

    Distemper-eye irritation

Thanks for your help! I will call the vet again and double check but I'm quite sure they said it was a form of distemper. I will let you know what I find.

    Distemper-eye irritation

I have had a cat with distemper for 4+ weeks. His eyes have been irritated the entire duration and before he came inside (lived on a farm) he almost passed away. He can't breathe through his nose and sneezes frequently. His stomach is always very upset, but no diahrrea or constipation. I took...

    Lost cat-what can I do?

I'm absolutely heartbroken. My first rescue cat, Jay, is missing. He got out and my father (Jay is not a fan of him) tried catching him and accidentally ran him off. He's been missing since. Absolutely no sign of him. This has happened before but he came back within an hour. It's been 4 days...

    Great kitty news!

Thank you!! My dream is to start my own rescue no-kill shelter for all animals. While being a vet, and spay/neuter at a low/no cost for feral cats and low cost spay for low income households and such. So many cats could be saved if more people spayed! Same with every other animal.

    Great kitty news!

So I've been caring for feral cats at a farm. Their caretaker passed away. The bad part is that there are 5-6 females there having kittens whenever they're able. I've rehomed almost every kitten now and gotten them a clean bill of health! I just did some research and found a spay/neuter clinic...

    How to wean a kitten?

I've been feeding regular friskies adult and on the side Iams kitten food! Sadly they don't sell fancy feast anywhere near me so I haven't been able to get it. She loves wet food but seems dissatisfied even after she eats all she can. I've been cutting back milk and feeding her wet food before...

    How to wean a kitten?

I have a kitten I've been fostering (mom abandoned her) and since I've been bottle feeding her she drinks about 3 ounces every 12 hours. That's a lot of kitten formula! I want to start weaning and I think she's around 6 weeks old... How should I do this while keeping her healthy? When she's...

    Urgent: cat constipation

Long story short: I have rescued a kitten and I've been trying to get his weight up. Up until now he's had very bad diarrhea, but today he is very constipated. He hasn't tried drinking for over 12 hours and now has been trying to go to the bathroom multiple times and looks as if he's in pain...

Is it possible my very young cat is pregnant?

I've been taking cats from a farm that are wild. I'm taking all of the kittens first, and a female I brought in seems to be pregnant! She is as big as my 6 month old cat, but since she was raised on barely anything (they are not fed there) I'm assuming she's older than she looks. I take in all...

    Catching smart feral cats

Thank you! I may try that. Sadly I live more than 10 miles from the farm so keeping there isn't quite an option. If I did catch all of them I would be able to keep them at my house. I have a shed they can stay in, but I wouldn't want them to run away and try to journey back there. It seems...

Poop stuck on butt, not fur

Awww poor girl! Don't know what could've caused that. I'm having the same problem with a kitten. I'll research a bit more and come back if I find anything useful! Not a fun situation. :(
