Introducing Feral cat back to the outdoors

I have had him since he was a kitten.  The vet said he will do fine going back outdoors.  I have two people that aid they would adopt him.  There is a couple of problems.  One, he is definitely not house broken.  He will not go in the litter box that is in his cage.  He goes everywhere else. ...

Introducing Feral cat back to the outdoors

My feral cat recently had his left front leg amputated due to a massive infection.  He is scheduled to have his stitches out on Saturday.  He has been kept in a cage in the garage since this past Saturday. My question is, how do I "introduced" him back to the outdoors?  I can not take him in...

    Feral cat with open wound

An update on Tiger.  I had his right front leg amputated on Tuesday.  Very hard decision but when I went to see him on Monday night, he purred and purred, licked me and rub my head with his.  I didn't have the heart to put him down.  I saw him last night and was scared at first.  He wanted to...

    Feral cat with open wound

The vet just called.  I have a choice.  Either amputate the leg or put him to sleep.  I'm so torn.  I don't think he will be a house cat as he is getting very nasty with the girls taking care of him.  The infection is somewhat better. Not oozing as much.  But if they keep on treating him, he...

    Feral cat with open wound

Spoke to the vet this morning.  No organ damage, no fractures, infection is not in the bone.  Does not have feline leukemia. Labs are out of whack due to the infection.  Cat seems to be improving.  Sill giving it fluids and antibiotics.  The vet did mention that there is a 70 to 80% chance the...

    Feral cat with open wound

Last night, I was able to really drain out the pus.  Gross sounding but alot did come out and he really didn't try to bite me.  I did contact a vet and if he is not better, I will be taking him on Friday. Thanks everyone for your input. Kelly

    Feral cat with open wound

This is the first time I have seen an injury that bad on one of my ferals.  They are friendly with me but also can be not so friendly.  I can hold the feral and wipe the drainage and put vaseline on but that is probably the limit.  The ooze is definitely not clear and no blood.  It is...

    Feral cat with open wound

I only go to my vet once a year when I take my dog for her annual exam. I did send them a message about the cat.  The cat is friendly with me but I don't know how friendly it will be with strangers. My main concern is the wound with all the puss "dripping" down his leg.  So I know there is an...

    Feral cat with open wound

I have 5 ferals cats.  I can pet all of them and pick up four out of the five.  My question is, the one feral cat went "missing" for a couple of days.  Shows up on Sunday with its front right leg swollen and he was limping.  I picked him up and noticed wounds on the leg.  I applied vaseline to...
