What can I do about Java my black long hair cat's sores on his nose. He got it checked at the vet and thankful not cancer but it will not get any better.

my cat has ulcer looking sores on his noes that were dianosed as not cancer.  They were removed and keep coming back. I put vasoline on them and clean his nose with saline but they will not heal or  go away. Am taking him back to vet but she says she does not know what to do about them.
