Trapping tips for the difficult adult cat?

Thanks for all the tips. Please continue to share your expertise. I think I may be at this for a while! I spoke with a volunteer from one of our local cat rescues and she suggested feeding close to the door of the trap and slowly moving the food into the opening of the trap, then up halfway...

Trapping tips for the difficult adult cat?

Hi again! I've posted a couple of times about the colony ofr four ferals that we're relocating. I'm happy to report that 3 of the 4 were trapped over the weekend and are in their new enclosure. (I have pictures of it, but haven't had a chance to download and organize them yet ... I will though.)...

Rehoming feral colony - addl questions

I took a couple of construction shots last weekend and will continue until the enclosure is complete. I'll be glad to e-mail them ... or are there instructions somewhere for posting images to the forum?

Rehoming feral colony - addl questions

A quick P.S. ... Do you think that when the cats get used to using the kitty flap to enter their enclosure they'll be likely to try to use the doggy door to get into their new owner's home? (We're worried about her pet rats that free-range inside the house.)

Rehoming feral colony - addl questions

Thanks for the suggestions. We ended up purchasing hardware cloth, which is a coated wire with about 1/2 x 1/2 inch openings. I think it will make a nice interior screen so the cats can see out while they're adjusting to their new home. The enclosure is really coming along. We're even putting...

Rehoming feral colony - addl questions

I posted below about having to rehome my colony of 4 feral cats and really appreciate all the warm thoughts, supportive and wonderful advice. I'm back with two more questions.... 1) We are building a wood, roofed enclosure, approximately 8 x 8 x 4 feet where the cats will live until they are...

    Rehoming a feral colony (long)

Thank you for your kind words. This does break my heart. The only thing keeping me going is in knowing that if I don't take action, my neighbor will likely trap the cats and take them to animal control, where they will surely be euthanized. I have to focus on their well-being ... and the fact...

    Rehoming a feral colony (long)

Thanks for the tip about the flower essences. It looks like CatFaeries doesn't carry Bachs, but they have a flower essence that's suited for ferals. Is that the one you had in mind ... or is it the "calming" one? I wish we could pat and anoint them each day, or put it directly on the tongue...

    Rehoming a feral colony (long)

Thanks for the tips, Hissy. The cats will be checked daily by their new "owner." The enclosure will have block wall on one side, house siding on the other, and a sturdy roof. It will be about 4 ft. wide and 6 ft. tall. How long should it be for 4 cats? We'll take care to make sure the front...

    Rehoming a feral colony (long)

I have been caring for a community of four feral female cats for 10 years. They were trapped and spayed as young adults and are semi-feral. We can pat one, and three of the four will "talk" to us and interact in their own way. We have been trying to work with a cruel neighbor (who thinks a...
