How often do you supplement L-Lysine and for how long--and for what? And other questions. :)

I am just floored by how intelligent you guys are. Not just you know more than most vets I've talked to, you are also sensible and considered! Since being completely blindsided by their early CRF assessment, I've been scrambling to find a prescription renal food that's acceptable. None are...

How often do you supplement L-Lysine and for how long--and for what? And other questions. :)

Thank you, Otto No, kitties are not related. Considering our history I think the likely source is the L-Lysine supplement that a vet recommended for herpes, etc. last Feb. He did not say it boosts the immune system, rather it has properties that inhibit the herpes virus. The dose he gave is...

    Experience with Ruptured Anal Glands?

I've had cats for years and never this problem. Once a vet showed me how to "express" anal glands. Very unpleasant for person and cat and I don't think anyone should try it. I have little money and can treat a lot of things myself, but I would have gone right to the vet, like you did. Maybe the...

hello can someone tell me what kind of cat I have. thx

I always thought the name was orange tabby. (?)  And though I never planned, an orange tabby always seems to find his way to me. I've had 5 over the years. A female orange tabby is rare, they are almost always male. Here is Sam, getting comfortable next to Salvador.

    CRF diet?

CRF Diet???? Very recently, I found from a vet that all three of my cats' blood creatine is a bit high indicating decreased kidney function. They are 13 years old, not that old since many of mine lived to around 20. For years I fed them Petguard a high quality wet food (no erzatz dry stuff), so...

How often do you supplement L-Lysine and for how long--and for what? And other questions. :)

Wow. I'm new to "the cat site" and I'm amazed with the experience and knowledge of the members. I hope you can help us. I've had cats all my life and several had the drippy eye syndrome. Al I ever heard from vets was "clogged tear duct" and they flushed them out for a few of my cats which...

Can't Get New Kitty to Drink Water

Your kitten is adorable and looks perfectly healthy!  Over 30 years of having cats and feeding almost only wet food, mine almost all barely drink water. Still, one must provide it at all times. Sometimes I think they just mysteriously have some when I'm not looking. Generally they really do get...

    Trader Joe's Cat Food?

I can't understand why people do not yet get it that dry pet food is pure crap. Even most vets I talk to seem to accept that people would feed this.  It is like giving your beloved pet a death sentence.
