Interesting. He does have a plastic type bowl in which I feed wet food. He usually has a little bit of that and prefers his kibble which is dispensed in a plastic container. I'll try the hydrogen peroxide and see if that helps.

We are planning on a vet visit if this doesn't resolve. It's not weeping and doesn't appear to be infected but better safe than sorry. Thank you for your response.
BTW....he does not have fleas nor ear mites. There are no sources of of a biting insect involved. It appears to be isolated to him as out other cat is fine. We're wondering if this may be some sort of infection but are not sure. If it doesn't clear, we will have him seen.

Any ideas what this could be? It looks worse at the moment because I put a Hydrocortizone cream on it. But it's pale to red in colour. He scratches it constantly but otherwise doesn't seem bothered by it. It's not sore because he lets me touch it without complaint and I've been treating...
