    Feral kitten HELP please!

To crate or not to crate - that is the question! Thanks for reminding me about the food. Letting them get hungry could be a powerful motivator. I"d been leaving them way too much, since they were so ravenous when I got them. Thanks again!!!

    Feral kitten HELP please!

Yes, I always used a dog crate, half covered with a sheet and with cozy bed, litterbox etc. These crates have never held a dog, since I am with a cat rescue and we use them for our adoption events. I fed them in the crate, and sat next to them while they ate, and started playing with kitty...

    Feral kitten HELP please!

Thanks for the encouragement! All the other feral kittens I tamed, I did so with them starting out in a dog crate, then getting freedom when they were comfortable with me around. I used toys and food to do this, and was very successful, to the point that the kittens were all adopted out and are...

    Feral kitten HELP please!

I received two feral kittens yesterday - about 11 or 12 weeks old. I have tamed feral kittens before, and adults as well with great success. I put them into a dog crate, without realizing there was a space large enough for them to escape and now they are huddled behind a TV cabinet, coming out...

    Ringworm: Has anyone tried this?

That doesn't sound like much fun, churchbug! The thing is that I have an indoor feral cat who could not be treated if she contracted the ringworm since I can't handle her. Even if I confined the new kitten, wash my hands after touching her, couldn't I spread the fungus to the other animals...

7-8 mo old cats getting a pooch... Should I stop free feeding?

All the cats I've seen personally who get free fed dry food are overweight. I feed my cats half canned and half dry and do feed meals. I've never had a fat cat. I've never given kitten food to 8 month old cats either.

    Ringworm: Has anyone tried this?

Thanks for all the input. I'm very anxious to adopt one of these babies, but cannot do so while they have ringworm. All I've read says it takes months to cure, so I guess I was hoping for a miracle! I have forwarded stephenq's advice to the rescue housing these kittens.

How can you tell if a cat has a UTI??

Inappropriate urination, sometimes crying while peeing, frequent peeing and squatting with no results are all signs of a UTI, as is blood in the urine. If you think she may have an infection I suggest a vet visit asap, as these things are just as painful for cats as they are for us!

    Ringworm: Has anyone tried this?

A local rescue got 4, 4-week old Siamese kittens dumped by a kitten mill. They are now 9 weeks old, and have rhino and eye infections. They also have ringworm, but because of their condition, traditional treatment for the ringworm cannot be used. I just read this anecdotal account from a...

    Goodbye, for now

OH I am so sorry! This is so very painful but Brodie was a very lucky girl to have such a loving and caring home. I'm sure when the time comes, you'll find another kitty to love who needs you just as much as you need her or him.

    Explanation for sudden death?

Thanks everyone. I guess I'll accept cardiomyopathy as the answer to this. Since this thread will be moved, I hope it's okay if I put a picture here of my Stinkerbell - weird, spooky, strange little girl who liked to bite my chin and who I loved so dearly.

    Explanation for sudden death?

Two years ago I took in an 8 week old kitten someone had dumped in a field. I tried to adopt her out, but she remained incredibly skittish and terrified of all people except me so I kept her. She was healthy and happy and a loving companion to my other feral cat. She had no sign of the...

    Yorkshire Terriers and Munchkins?

I would suggest testing the dog with cats first. As has been said, some dogs who are wonderful with people will attack a cat or anything else they perceive as prey. Yorkies are big dogs in small packages and generally fearless and could be injured by a cat as well. Every dog is different and...

My yard cat poops in my bushes! HELP!

If the cat is 7 months old, she is either pregnant now, has a litter already, or will get pregnant tomorrow and then you're going to have a real problem. The first priority is getting her spayed right now.
