    Excessive thirst and weight loss

I agree with the kidneys as the issue. His food intake has been declining since February. Ive tried all varieties of wet food. The vet said to just give him food he will eat. Good news is that he seems content and in no discomfort. Goes to the other cats for affection. They have been...

    Excessive thirst and weight loss

Newly neutered older feral in March was doing fine. two months ago, appetite decreased, excessive thirst and weight loss. Cat is soooo frail. I can't approach him yet. Still too feral but getting better. No chance of retrapping to go to the vet. He's wasting away. Any thoughts? The good news is...

    Possible injured orange feral cat

New Orange Update. Such a great cat. Really adjusted to the other cats in the colony. But there's a problem. About month ago, he started eating very little food and drinking lots of water. Looked quite thin and his coat was not so good. He has been making such great progress, Even comes into the...

    FIV/Anemia

My neutered, male cat "Orange" is 12 and was just diagnosed with FIV and pretty bad anemia. Symptoms became apparent this weekend. So weird. Wasn't eating and sleeping all day. He's an indoor/outdoor cat I rescued as a feral when he was a baby. Still have his mom and sister. Vet gave him...

    dialated pupils

Vet gave Seymore a steroid to reduce inflamation. Thought it might be acute optic neuritis. Started the medication and unbelievably the next day He Could SEE. It was crazy. Pupils reduced to normal and he's been fine ever since. Remarkable. Bottom line: If your cat is sick…Go To The VET! So...

    dialated pupils

Took Seymore to the Vet and to the animal eye center. Blood pressure normal. No detached retina and no bleeding. Vet did bloodwork and I'll know more tomorrow. Opthomologist also saw retina in place but no light getting into eye. Put him on a strong steroid for Optic Neuritis. Maybe would reduce...

    dialated pupils

Seymore is a tuxedo cat that came as a feral  5 yrs ago and now is quite social with 6 other cats (feral) inside/outside. Very healthy. However, yesterday I noticed his pupils were very dilated. Its been 24 hours, still dilated. He's eating, playing, purring, and looks good. Any idea why his...

    Possible injured orange feral cat

Good News! "New Orange" showed up just now at my front steps. Ate a little. He looked great. I really want him to be part of the family. Too bad he just comes at night, eats and leaves. Wish I could attract him to come inside. O well. At least he's back.

    Possible injured orange feral cat

OMG, All went great. Unfortunately, the sedative did not work. Cat probably didn't ingest enough. He was a bit sluggish and I chased him around car and opened my mudroom door and he went inside and hid in the small bathroom. I closed him up and set a trap. (It's a pocket door) I put a piece of...

    Possible injured orange feral cat

I have a pretty big carrier. I will use that as his bed. If he goes in I will lower top part and secure tightly. Great idea. He has three beds in the garage now. Only place he can go is under my car. That would be worst case scenario. What time should I give him the pill. (Vet appt. is Friday...

    Possible injured orange feral cat

I reread your reply and I thank you for your advice. I went to the vet today and got 3 pills (acepromazine). I have an appt on Friday to get him neutered. When should I give him the pill? How long does it take to work? Yikes, how would I get him if he goes under the car?. Most importantly, how...

    Possible injured orange feral cat

I've maintained a colony of 11 cat for the past 7 years. All socialized and practically living indoors. Except for one who would never allow to be trapped. He is orange, male and only comes at night for a meal (good shape nice coat and large). Extremely skiddish During the last 2 weeks he did...
