    Left Behind Rescues...

Hello Ondine, Thanks so much for your reply. I have saved your suggestions for future reference. As I said in the original post 8 possibly 9 cats have been rescued from irresponsible tenants living that apartment complex. As a rent controlled residency, it is beyond me why they allow pets at...

    Life or Death; Advice Needed!

Hello Caretaker, Thank You for your response! When he's caught, he will be transported to our local Humane Society. As for a TNR program, there is a possibility we may have such an organization in our area but we would rather work with him to get him adopted. We believe the swiping is his way...

    Life or Death; Advice Needed!

Thank You StefanZ for your suggestions. I 'm not sure the little guy would take kindly to a towel or even a pillow case as some vets have suggested, however any of these options are certainly worth considering. Thanks Again! Leilani (AKA cats_toy)

    Life or Death; Advice Needed!

Thank You Feralvr, that is comforting to know! I have a question about capturing the little guy (for now we call him Linus) with the least amount of stress. We are considering using a trap similar to what the Humane Society uses. Do you find this method an acceptable method of capture?  ...

    Life or Death; Advice Needed!

Thank You both for your reply. To StefanZ unfortunately our bathroom is very small, not an ideal area for a semi feral kitty. I live along the Treasure Coast of Florida, as I mentioned we do have one organization who is willing to trap the little guy but he will be put to sleep once caught. To...

    Life or Death; Advice Needed!

Hello Everyone, Since moving into our home over 18 yrs ago, we’ve become the Mecca for homeless kitties. We currently have 5 fur babies 3 were abandoned by their owners. It was 5 weeks ago another homeless cat sought refuge at our doorstep. Hoping desperately he was just passing by, we ignored...

    10-12hrs Without FOOD???

Due to an excessive eater in our cat family weâ€8482ve had to resort to a feeding schedule. Our original plan was to feed them at 7:00am, 1:00pm and 7:00pm. My concern is the last feeding. If they take an hour or so to clean their bowls this leaves them without food for 10-12hrs. Iâ€8482m not...

    Timeframe for Canned Food

We have just started the move from dry to wet (canned) food. I performed a search on the length of time cat owners leave their canned food out. I must say I was extremely surprised by the amounts ranging from 30min to 2 days. The last thing we want to do is leave food out to long that could...

    Abandoned Cat Rescued

On July 28, while sitting in my Florida room, I noticed a visitor walking toward our house. I wasnâ€8482t familiar with this mysterious feline and hoped he was just passing through. I should have known however, that great big neon sign apparently invisible to us humans lit up on the roof of our...

Old-ish Cat -- Painful Situation (For both the Owner and cat)

Hi bugga12, So good to hear your honey is doing better. When we were trampled by 3 hurricanes we went without electric for weeks at a time. The majority of our feline kids are young but our diabetic at the time was 14 yrs. Without electric the heat reached unbearable conditions which affected...

    Do your cats go outside?

When I was younger (teenager size) we lost two cats to automobiles. That was many years ago but I still feel those losses when I reminisce. We have 6 cats one is a diabetic, I can't imagine allowing any of them outdoors. Our kitties do experience some semblance of outdoor life because we had...

I did it, I did it!!!!

Congrats KittenKrazy on your new venture. My roommate cleans 4 houses bi-weekly and 1 weekly. Though it can be draining, the extra money sure comes in handy. Leilani

I agree with GoldenKitty45, save your found cash for now. You never know with a move and all what unexpected expense may come up. Leilani

    It's a conspiracy! :-)

Hi Marianjela, I had the same problem just a few days ago. Contacted admin about it but didn't hear from anyone. Today I was on the verge of emailing administration again when I thought I would check to see if things were better. Guess they are because I'm posting this message. Leilani

    Odd Monthly Behavior

I have a Manx male, approximately 4 yrs of age who for the past 3 months has developed an odd pattern. It began September 14th he started vomiting spittle, or liquid (as in water) he did this several times over the course of the day. Thinking a furball may be upsetting his stomach, we...

Is It PossibleTo Get Cats To Eat Wet Food

Hello All, Past experiences have shown me that as our feline companions age they may not be able to eat hard food. So I would like to incorporate some wet food into their diets. Their ages range from 13yrs to 1yr 7mos., I have tried ProPlan and Whiskas with no success. Any suggestions on how I...

lump/growth on cat -- new member

We had the same experience with Claibourne. We found a small growth on her back leg the vet told us boxers/bulldogs normally get these wart like lumps. He insisted on removal of the growth because it would drain and become very messy. Hats off to your vet Jamie for performing a biopsy. Our vet...

    Worst food yet?

Although I do not condone what the AAFCO justifies is acceptable food for our pets. I am merely stating what information we learn through our veterinarian, articles and books. One such example is a Guide to a Healthy Cat by Elaine Wexler-Mitchell, DVM who suggests buying cat with the AAFCO seal.
