I know that this shelter doesn't euthanise, but not all have that policy. I rarely hear of inspectors in my area. It's not really very enforced. There are a couple of TV shows and that's the most I know of home visits, in the cities when neighbours complain. You could easily keep more than 2...
Io is sweetie, itty bitty pritty little kitty, shiny, gorgeous or preow
Cooper is schnookums, cuddle monster, flopcat, fuzzball or teddycat
They are both cutens or meows.
... you don't go to the toilet because guess who's asleep on your lap, even though you're busting (like right now for example, ahem >u<)
... your partner sends you a picture of a kitten on his lap as an excuse not to do the vacuuming! nawww
... you spend the last few dollars in your bank...
Hello All,
We've been trying to feed our kitties chicken wings as the vet recommended for their teeth, but we're still having trouble with it.
Cooper loves it, and will get very defensive towards Io when we give it to them. We've tried separating them, feeding at different times and chopping it...
She didn't necessarily mean her own cats, but I know I have certainly heard lots of stories from friends and such about cats that die under anaesthesia, just unluck of the draw I think. Apparently, while not common, it's not unheard of for there to be complications, I'm not a vet so I don't know...
Both of my cats are becoming more 'lappy' and Io is getting into leg rubbing which she never used to do. Cooper has always been up for pats but not so much an actual lap cat. Yesterday I was lying on the couch and he lounged on me which was a first. It's such a nice feeling!
Hello All,
I'm having a bit of trouble getting Cooper to settle down whenever we give them chicken wings. The vet recommended we give them one 1-2x weekly.
I went to the butcher this morning (for the first time in 10 years!) and got a couple for them, this time (as opposed to last time) I got...
Catapult, did you feed them straight away after they got home? I was just curious if maybe vets say different things for different animals?
Surgery started at 8:30, picked them up at around 1:45, then we were told not to feed them until 7pm. I was especially worried about feeding as Io had been...
Hey,
Just got home after picking them up from surgery. Cooper is way more active than Io, to be expected. She's being super adorable and she must be in a lot of pain. In less than 5mins of getting through the door she was a little sick on the floor, after a phone call I found out that's fairly...
I don't think I'll need to worry too much about heating at the moment... We're in the sub-tropics and it's summer at the moment (ugh!). If anything they've been trying to find cool places to sleep, like the bathroom tiles.
I'll definitely see what we can put together as far as a cat-cave for...
Hello All,
Cooper & Io are getting the snip on Wednesday. I have yet to talk to the vet about what we'll need to do after we bring them home, but I wanted to know if there's anything I can learn in advance, or if you could share some experiences with me so I can have a heads up!
The vet's told...
It sounds like you've now found a great vet! It's such a good feeling to at least get a prompt answer.
Oh dear... "What's that kidney-shaped lump! OH NO, A TUMOR!" If that ever happened with my vet, I'd be outta there quicksmart.
All the best for Mackerel, such a beautiful kitty! I hope she...
Hey I just found a copy of the 'Animal Care & Protection Act 2001 - Reprinted as in force on 1 December 2009' for my state...
If anyone wants to rake through it or you're curious: http://www.legislation.qld.gov.au/LE...malCaPrA01.pdf
There are lots of interesting things in there, including...
Oh man, after reading your post I had a look at the rest of the comments. The bad ones really lack in perspective. They are the kind of people that make me scared about letting my kittens outside.
They're idiots that don't realise that animals have feelings, and can be hurt, and they certainly...
Ah ok. All I can find is that you don't need to register cats until they're 12 weeks old, so if you're lucky and manage to get them all adopted before then, you'd be ok. I reckon that's cutting it pretty fine, and you wouldn't want to be in a rush to get rid of them.
I'd imagine you'd have to...
Yes that's correct. I'm pretty sure you can really only get domesticated breeds of native snakes & lizards. A few different kinds of pythons, bearded dragons and blue tongue lizards. You can keep native scorpions as well, but I don't know if you need a permit for that too. Australia is pretty...
