    Moving to New Home

I'm sure this has been answered before, but here goes anyway. I have a new home with a large building for my new Animal Rescue. I'll be moving the rescue cats to the new building in about a month. What will be the best way for me to move my three outside cats? I don't want to just leave them...

    Feline Leukemia

Sadly, Edgar was let out of his pain last night. He was much braver than I was. I will miss him terribly. I can only hope for the best for my other cats that lived with him--all but one (that I'm not sure about) had been vaccinated, but apparently testing and vaccinating don't mean that it can't...

    Feline Leukemia

That's scary thinking he had a negative test in 2005, but had the disease. Fortunately, I guess and hope, all my other cats had negative tests and were vaccinated. Edgar just seemed to get sick all of a sudden. He's always been a friendly, "nosy" cat, so when I didn't see him much the other day...

    Feline Leukemia

The vet (who I usually trust) insisted that the snap tests are 98% accurate. Edgar has a (?)red blood cell count of only 9 (maybe not red?). He also isn't eating, but he drinks as much, it seems, as he can get (he slept in the kitchen sink last night and is at "grandma's" now sleeping in her...

    Feline Leukemia

Will someone PLEASE tell me how Edgar could have contracted this disease? Edgar is a Persian, about 10 years old, that I rescued from a high-kill shelter in October, 2004. He kept being returned to the shelter for one reason or another and I took him home and promised him he would never have to...

    RIP Carrot 3/16/07

I think we all know how heartbreaking it is to lose a special friend. Carrot was so lucky to have you, TJ, and our hearts and thoughts go with you both now.

Tragic Loss of Sweet, Wonderful Ethan

Thank you all for your words of support. Paula, your beautiful black cat looks just like Ethan--I thank you for that because I don't even think I had a picture of him. I keep hoping I'll go outside and Ethan will come running around the corner and up on the porch, but I know that won't...

Tragic Loss of Sweet, Wonderful Ethan

I don't know where else to go but here to share my sad story about Ethan. I rescued Ethan and his brother, Patrick, last summer in a neighborhood where these two boys were roaming about freely since their owners had no use for them. The Animal Control was on their way to take them to the...

    Orphaned Kittens

There's a local rescue with two-week old orphaned kittens. I have a mother cat who is still nursing her two kittens, although they are at least ten weeks old. Would it be a good idea to see if she might nurse these kittens also? Or is this not a good idea? Thanks for any help!

    Vaccinating a Kitten

I was under the impression (mistakenly?) that they should be 1-1/2 pounds at least. The vet just says 6 weeks. I trust this vet so I guess there shouldn't be any problem! Thanks all!

    Vaccinating a Kitten

What age and weight should a kitten have it's first shots?? My kitten is under 1 pound but is almost 6 weeks old. I got him at the shelter a week and a half ago and he had coccidiosis (which he is being treated for). Since then, he is eating well and gaining a lot of weight, but still pretty...

    A Different Relocation Question

Thank you! I'll try to find another room to put them in. I also have 2 dogs outside, but they LOVE cats! (And the outside cats love them!) How large are your outside cages? Thanks again!

    A Different Relocation Question

These cats were born feral. I still haven't been able to trap the mother. But I was able to trap these two last year and have them spayed. Since a few months ago, they have both allowed me to pet them (this is why I say they're tamed). I want to bring them home because I don't plan on remaining...

    A Different Relocation Question

How would you suggest I relocate two ferals that I have tamed from my office to my home? As of yet I don't have a barn to lock them into and I can't bring them in the house (too many cats already inside!). Can I just bring them home?

    Urgent Help Needed-ringworm Cat

Try a treatment using Program. It's easier than bathing them and trying to give them medicine daily. Please see the article at: http://www.isrvma.org/article/57_3_99.htm There are many more articles on this. I tried the Program with 5 of my kittens that had ringworm and it didn't spread to the...

    Need VIBES,,Conner's GONE!!!

Make sure you look in closets or anywhere he could be locked up. Some of my cats don't cry even when locked in closets! I dont' know why, but they won't make any noise at all to let you know where they are!! Best of luck!!

    I want this cat back

I truly believe you should trust your instincts. There's obviously something there that's got your guard up. Since you're planning a followup anyway, the sooner you do it, the sooner you'll know! Good luck!
