I'm looking for a wet cat food that is limited ingredient, preferably chicken and has no bones in it. We've been feeding our ibd cat evo, then addiction, and I'm beginning to think the bones are an issue. I'm having a hard time finding boneless quality wet cat food.
Thanks! I haven't found a .5 yet. I did find a .05 and that company told me I must have been wrong about the .5 quantity because it is a lot......
anyway, I'd like to hear from anyone that has experience with folic acid and their ibd cat
I've read that ibd cats can benefit from taking .5 mg of folic acid. I haven't been able to find a supplement that has that much. Any suggestions?
thanks
I've read that omega 3 oil is good for ibd cats. But, of course, I've also seen on the internet that omega 3 oil supplements cause problems with ibd cats. Anyone have an experience in either direction with their ibd cats?
We've tried all the obvious ways and we have to pill her. We put the pill in a capsule which makes it better for her because it doesn't melt when she keeps spitting it out. I did find another thread somewhere (not sure where - you know how internet browsing is!) in which they discuss this very...
Thank you. Very helpful. The issue you ran into is exactly what I was afraid of. So many of these companies say that their products can help ibd cats without really considering the fact that an extra strong immune system doesn't help an ibd cat.
I think I'll just add some l-glutamine, folic...
Has anyone tried using biosuperfood on their ibd cats? Our cat has had ibd for a few years now and we have seen improvement but she still slides into bad times whenever something slightly wrong happens (like we run out of the right food and she has a day with something else).
Anyway, I'd like...
Hi. We have an ibd cat who has been taking pred for a long time (probably 3 years now). She was given 6 months to live by our vet and she really has come back (as long as we keep up the regiment of pred,, slippery elm, enzymes, probiotics and sometimes pepcid). I'd like to stop pilling her. ...
zoneout - I know what you are going through and feel for you. We had two cats. Our first one started throwing up alot and refused to eat. We put him through all kinds of tests which we now regret. It seemed like after every test or procedure we heard the same thing "well, we think it is ibd...
thanks for your replies. We are giving our cat SEB every day to help with nausea. I wasn't aware that it did the same as pred . . . .
She is currently having a flare up so we're not sure what is going on. Just when she was getting really good. She is dehydrated. And wouldn't eat again so...
My IBD cat is showing big signs of improvement and we'd like to start getting her off the pred. Wondering if anyone has had luck with natural forms of an anti-inflammatory for the gut and getting their ibd cats off of pred.
Our cat has had ibd for a couple years now. We have had great success in battling it and she is good now - running and playing and we haven't seen her look like she is in pain for quite a while. She still gets finicky with food sometimes and we have to switch her. She is still on Pred.
In...
We've been giving our cat a miatake/dmg supplement ever since she had a battle with cancer. She got over the cancer but now is struggling with ibd. My understanding of ibd is that the immune system attacks the cat's body so it seems as if we should stop enhancing her immune system with the...
well, we had gone to see another integrative vet (includes holistic care) and he mentioned we should up the pred since Max didn't seem to be doing well and he felt as if we would see great results. Well, as soon as we started the increased dose Max got much worse. I'm beginning to think the...
kwarendorf - thank you for your input. We are treating the ibd with 5 mg once a day. We've started supplements as well to try and heal his intestines/stomach.
How did your cat act on the pred? Maxwell seems really tired and spaced out and seems to have muscle weakness (won't jumpt up on things)
Hi Carolina. You asked if Max had"senior blood testing". I'm not sure what that is. I can tell you that he has been thoroughly tested from the emergency room, our regular vet and then the very, very expensive specialist hospital. $4,000 later - we received Max's diagnoses. So, I'm pretty...
Hi Fisheater - Thanks for sharing your ibd experience.
When you say the food worked well - do you mean right away? Like, a week or two after you started giving it to him - no uncomfortableness, or other ibd problems?
That is what we're confused about. We were told by one of the vets that...
Hi everyone and, again, thanks for your input.
We did call our vet regarding Max's muscle weakness and she indicated it was a short term effect of the prednisolne (sp?). It lasted a couple days then stopped. He is back to jumping on counters and getting into trouble!
I am starting to...
Thanks for all your input regarding food. We are so hesitant to use the vet rx formulas. Trying venison now but maybe will switch to rabbit.
The last couple days Maxwell is going through a rough period. He is sleeping constantly and his muscles seem week. He gingerly moves off tables or...
Hi Everyone - I have an 8 yr old cat who has recently been diagnosed with IBD with the underlying cause being food allergies/intolerances.
We are in the beginning stages of the diet trial and are a little confused. Three questions:
1 - Is hydrolized food a better way to go then just using...
