I got a call yesterday morning from someone that had found baby opossums. All to often I get calls from people that may be well intentioned but simply doing the absolute wrong thing. A few recent examples:
I found these baby birds IN A NEST and so I brought them in, can you come get them...

The new series starts tomorrow (Friday.) I used to watch the original show way back when and really enjoyed it, though watching those old ones now it looks really dated. (Though I do remember those types of haircuts!) The "New Battlestar Galactica" series that came out shortly after was...
Well, another day another animal. This time a woman hit an animal which dashed out in front of her. She managed to get it in her car and take it to the local vet, who immediately recognized it as a bobcat. From there it was sent to a special vet in Raleigh. She (the bobcat) was pretty badly...
My niece Maya, visiting with the cubs (that's me with her). These are some of the younger cubs which came from the big USDA raid some months back. Three of the big cats came in pregnant and one got that way right after they arrived (before the males could get their vasectomies. That's been...

Update on the little girl (that's her with me on 6/6/04 below.) She's putting on weight well and very full of herself. She'll still need surgery on her mouth when she gets a bit older.

Here I am feeding our newest baby. She's ~4 weeks old here. (This was three weeks ago.)
Poor baby has a cleft palate which will require surgery. The vet has determined it is best to wait until she is 4 months old. The guy that had her (and was breeding tigers - a whole other story) was...
Several weeks back the USDA came out to inspect and discuss some things with us. The local inspector and the regional director both came out, they wanted us to help with an upcoming raid on a facility. They were very pleased with our facility (standard inspection, no big deal) and asked us to...
I want to start with clearly stating I am opposed to declawing cats. Now, for the question.
We adopt out a large number of cats from our shelter. As an organization we are strongly opposed to declawing. In my experience I have been very successful using just a small number of training tips...
Just wanted to introduce myself.
I'm George (the George Webb listed in the article in this thread, with my response late along the way: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...threadid=15298) My wife and I have 8 cats and 5 dogs, plus a large kitty TV (fish tank). I also work with large...
Four weeks ago one of the neighborhood strays decided our tool shed was the place to have her kittens (4 of them.) I was outside with the dogs and they were very interested in the shed. I expected to find a mouse or some other small animal, but there was the little family. The cat was...
