I can't quite tell from the photo...is it sort of a raised irritation? Is it flaked-off skin with redness underneath? Is it crusty?
My Imogen had a bad yeast infection in her ears a couple of years ago that grew out of irritation from the mites she brought home from the shelter and which her...
I had a similar problem with my girl for a long time, though she was that way pretty much from the day I brought her home. (I'm sure that's why she ended up in the shelter, too.) She would pee mostly on carpet, any carpet, no matter how thoroughly enzymed and cleaned, and she would poop...
Maybe I've been watching too much My Cat From Hell lately (http://animal.discovery.com/tv/my-cat-from-hell/), but it seems to me that many of Jackson Galaxy's usual tips could help here.
1. How much vertical space do you have for kitty? She does sound rather bored and stressed, and in need of a...
Imogen almost always comes when I call her. She is so very attuned to my every move, it's scary. Even if she's asleep, when I leave the room, she will wake up and follow me. In fact, just a few days ago she was happily cuddling with DB for a nap while I showered, and DB reported that the moment...
Thanks for all the responses, guys. To answer your questions, she still has all her claws, and she's not much for digging in the litter anyway. (She never buries anything. Ever. I stand by my assessment that, whatever happened to her in her young life, she was probably taken from her mother too...
No problem, Alison Joy! Let me see if I can remember...
I got a 2' x 4' piece of basic pine plywood at Lowe's for about $9 -- I cut that into a 20" by 20" section, then halved it diagonally to make the two shelves. (You could make it bigger or smaller, of course, but I was limited by my window...
So me, being the intrepid person that I am, decided that Imogen needed a new scratching/playing/napping place. As I didn't want to spend a bookoodle of money, and since power tools are awesome sauce, I decided to build my own! (With much help from the boyfriend, of course.)
A little bit of...
Hahaha, Imogen must not be a cat, then, as she has done her darndest NOT to do these things since the day I got her
Two separate vets agree that it's a behavioral issue, and that she's just a bit...quirky. I think it may be a bit of a stress thing as well, as I'm sure she has some separation...
Hello all; it's been a while.
Imogen and I have reached a sort of tacit agreement. She understands the litter boxes (she has three) and what they are for, but sometimes, she just chooses not to use them. I've learned to understand her, even though I don't like it.
Here's the thing: since the...
Thank you all, this is exactly the sort of information I was looking for! Knowing the names of the vaccines to get and the ones to avoid is going to be a great help.
I think I'm just going to ask for the rabies 1-year (required by county) and the FVRCP. I don't have last year's receipt with me...
Hi guys,
I'm deferring to your much wiser opinions here. Imogen's yearly check-up is coming up next week, and I was wondering what to ask the vet for as far as vaccinations. After last year's check-up and shot regimen, she developed a very large cyst on the injection site on her hip that didn't...
I've had many, many similar troubles with my Imogen, and we've finally seemed to come to an understanding that outside is the way to go. She most definitely prefers it. I can't just let her out and she'll do her business and come back, like a dog might, and I wouldn't want to do that anyway, as...
SHE'S BACK!!!
My neighbors were keeping an eye out for her and one spotted her a couple of days ago in a little field reserved for Saturday yard sales that sits about 2-3 blocks away from the apartment. Said Imogen was sitting there grooming herself, calm as you please. I'd been wondering...
Thanks so much, guys. I really appreciate your kind words. I'm including a picture of her on the night that boyfriend and I brought her home from the shelter (funny faces ftw), and a more recent video of her learning to like her CET toothpaste, lol. Just so y'all can see how cute she is...
Thanks all for the sympathy and advice. I had already read the two articles you posted, but it was good to look through them again. There are quite a few hidey-holes near my apartment, but I checked them all thoroughly, to no avail. (Woodshed, crawl spaces, etc.) I've been checking them every...
So I've been spending the past day and a half alternating between crying and worrying. For those who don't remember, I adopted Imogen as a shelter kitty in January, and we've had litterbox problems ever since. About a month ago, it got so bad that...nevermind, I don't want to go there right now...
Thanks, sharky. I don't think she'll be allergic to anything, as I'm pretty sure the NB contains both barley and flaxseed, too. Good to know it has a good omega ratio, though!
Anyway...we'll see how it goes. Unfortunately, they don't sell Blue, Nutro or any of the other super-duper awesome...

I went to get a new bag of Natural Balance Ultra today and walked away with Grandma Mae's County Naturals instead. It was a few dollars cheaper for the same amount and seemed to have ever so slightly better ingredients. Two of the ladies...
Haven't tried nok-out but Anti-Icky Poo worked for me. I got (giant and scary) carpet injector needle with it and a small blacklight flashlight and I could see the stuff working almost instantly. It leaves a strong, but not unpleasant "clean" smell lingering for a while.
