thanks so much. that really is helpful.
the caller (which was actually a vet asst) said that their normal scale for calcium was 8.2-10.8, and as spivey is at 11, it's high.
we are due for a re-check of calcium in 2 weeks. i'm hopeful that it may go down, although, like i said, nothing with...
thanks for the vibes rang
unfortunately, there's really nothing out of the ordinary going on with her as far as medication (no meds, no laxatives) or diet are concerned.... which is why i feel that her results will be the same in 2 weeks. she eats the same food every day, isn't munching on...
we took spivey (9) to the vet this week because I had noticed that she's been drinking more water than usual over the last month or so. she had a full exam, doctor felt nothing unusual and she didn't seem dehydrated (skin snapped back well, eyes looks good).
the vet just called back with her...
MISSION FAILURE. she won't eat it. i bought a can of the chicken/liver pate, and also the grilled salmon 'flakes'. tried both, she just looks at the plate then walks away, doesn't even sniff it or taste it i even put a glop of it on her nose, thinking at least she'd have to lick it off...
thanks sharky, that's what i kinda thought too. if she eats it at least it's SOMETHING.
of course, i'm prepared for her to turn her nose up at it like she does everything else that isn't prepared for human consumption. maybe i'll just buy one can to start
to the fancy feast feeders, which...
our oldest (spivey), is 9. she is a dry-only eater, and has proven very resistant to all attempts to get her to eat canned food. i've tried many. she will eat 'real' meat, such as chicken, ground beef, ham (i know ), as a matter of fact, she LOVES meat. but on the canned food... nuh uh...
lola tries to eat these. she gets one in her mouth, then lets it drop out and stares at it with a confused look i think the size and hardness is more than she can handle. she's a Temptations girl.
marvin, on the other hand, loves the greenies (the oven roasted chicken flavor, anyway)...
ah, i see. so part of the cap that's showing doesn't even have any claw in it, it's just an empty tip?
i should consider these further. my cats have a big homemade cat tree that they like to scratch routinely, but they sometimes have these crazy jags of furious couch-corner scratching when...
i've never tried these (still trying to 'train' mine not to scratch the old fashioned-way... unsuccessfully ).
i'm curious. while wearing them, it doesn't appear that the cats can fully retract their claws. can they? if not, isn't that annoying to the cat? and after extended use, would full...
agree with this. none of ours our collared, but all are microchipped.
safety/identity concerns considered, i also prefer the aesthetics of a 'natural' kitty (no brands of ownership)
That's wonderful! I'm glad your kitty recovered.
I should add that the only test we chose not to do for marvin was a ct scan to eliminate the possiblity of a brain tumor. that was decided a) because we (incl vet) thought that, although never an impossiblity, it was not likely due to his...
yeah, the things we do! it's an amazing feat on their part, that we (the most advanced species, indeed) do everything for them, even alter our lives for their care.... AND WE LOVE AND CHERISH OUR SERVITUDE!
absolutely! i'm thrilled that it's taking less medicine to keep him seizure-free, and...
i have an almost 3 year old (marvin) who has been on phenobarbital since about 6-7 months of age. marvin's seizures began the day after his neuter surgery. after many tests and an ultrasound (to rule out disease, parasites, liver shunt), he was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy and prescribed...
