I am so glad I found this thread!
We have a rescue - Riley - we adopted him from a pet rescue facility when he was about 8 months old. The rescue facility informed us that he had just recovered from a bout of diarrhea - we didn't think much of it - and we took him home.
He was fine from...
Thanks so much everybody - haven't been able to visit the site since last week - I feel a lot better reading these posts! I am heading to Austin on Friday for a visit - I was originally going to stay in a hotel but I'm going to stay at my Mom's with the kitties and see if I can coax the shy one...
Unfortunately, no.
My sister is married with two kids (three if you count my BIL) who have serious issues making it very difficult for her to get away even for one night.
My husband and I live 2000 miles away and there are no other family members available.
I am hoping that there will be...
My mother lives in Austin, TX in an apartment with two mature cats. She has SEVERE COPD and recently landed in a nursing home. I live in Burbank, CA -- my sister lives in Austin and has been going over to Mom's apartment daily to feed and visit with the kitties. One of them does not come out AT...
Funny you should say that...right after you guys posted, I hollered down the hall "honey?? Everybody says the same thing I do - take her to the vet!"
Poor baby - she is just the sweetest thing...my calico is such a bruiser, bless her...and our little Tabby Queen has always been tiny - but she...
We have a ten year old tiger kitty that my husband adopted right before we got married -- she's about 10 years old now --about a year and a half ago, she was diagnosed with hyper-thyroid and has been on meds. Her weight seemed to get better, coat improved, etc.
We've recently noticed that she's...
Day 3 of "Kitty ICU" here at our house. She is doing very well - sleeps a lot and has gotten VERY spoiled with Mommy and Daddy lifting her on and off the bed, etc. Her belly seems to be healing up nicely but she will probably have to wear her cone for the rest of the week at least. We take it...
So glad that he survived!! I really hope you two have some quality bonding time -- I agree that he will probably need a companion down the road a ways, but for right now, I think it should just be the two of you!
OMG - if you could SEE what they pulled out of my baby!! A whole BAGGIE full of hair ties!! Thanks be to GOD that I followed my instincts because she FOR SURE would not have survived
She is home and HATING her "cone of shame"....we are not out of the woods yet -- PLEASE, if there is ANYTHING...
Lois is out of surgery and in recovery
They found what looked like a piece of string in there -- my husband didn't have all the detail so we'll see when we go and pick her up later today.
We had to monitor her carefully for the next couple of weeks, bless her. The vet said she biopsyed (sp?)...
Yes, Lois would seek them out as well! You MUST hide them -- I know sometimes they can pass them, but don't risk it! She is probably in surgery right now so I'm sending my own vibes her way, bless my little girl...she is my heart....I'll post later and let you know!
I hope you took your kitty in!! My kitty was doing something very similar with her mouth -- but not vomiting -- we took her for an x-ray yesterday and she DOES have something in there -- they are operating this morning!! Take your kitty in if this is still going on and you haven't done it already!
Totally agree that your cat is VERY stressed by the change, poor thing. I agree that you should give him his own little "safe" space where he doesn't have to interact with the dog. It is VERY difficult to introduce a cat into a "dog household" -- usually a little easier doing the reverse -- he...
She would just start smacking her mouth -- fairly wide -- for a few seconds at a time. I did a ton of internet research and most of them talked about nausea being a cause for that kind of smacking -- we did of course check her mouth, teeth, etc first and she got the all clear on that -- so the...
They would have to be the cloth covered kind -- they're the only ones I use...thanks for all your good thoughts this morning everybody...we'll be bringing her over in about an hour or so...I'm going to do my very best to stay positive....
Well...turns out it was a good thing I followed my instincts...Lois has great blood work, lab work was great, etc, etc, etc,...put her on the laxatives, etc, etc, etc,....but I still noticed the mouth "smacking" -- took her in for x-rays today...the vet examined her beforehand...felt her tummy...
