8 year old loosing weight fast

It sounds like your cat improved, Britt0285. My cat eats very small amounts, and I cant tell if she is drinking much. A vet tech suggested giving her moist kitten food which is a little higher in fat and protein.

8 year old loosing weight fast

If anyone is still following this post...... This cat weighed 6.4lbs on Sept 23. She was treated for tape worms by injection and given Advantage-Multi for fleas and I'm told advantage-multi also addresses other worm types. Today I weighed her again. She is at 5.4 lbs.....still loosing...

8 year old loosing weight fast

My concern is she is barely eating and drinking, at least so far as I can see. I put a can of moist high quality cat food out and she just licks at it....not taking bites. This might take time for recovery. She weights 6 lbs. I don't know her original weight but I suspect she was at 9 lbs...

8 year old loosing weight fast

She saw the Vet today. He confirmed a serious case of fleas and suspects tape worms as well. He treated with a shot for the worms and advantage for the fleas. Im told she should bounce back fast.....unless there is another underlying problem. Thanks to everyone for their advice.

8 year old loosing weight fast

I think she was born around 2002, spayed in 2005, showing signs of blindness in 2009, now she is not eating, definitely loosing weight. I can feel the prominence of her spine. She seems in good spirits. Moves slow. Sits on my lap and purs for a minute then just sits quietly. I took her to...

7 year old might be going blind

I will consider asking for a blood panel to test her thyroid and blood sugar...but I think he would have suggested this if he believed there is a reasonable chance of finding something to fix. I feel this vet well qualified. He's younger, but experienced, out of vet school maybe 10-15 years...

7 year old might be going blind

correct....no further blood work or tests. Vet apparently believes even if we know the cause.....there is no treatment. She is home and will live out the rest of her life as comfortable as possible.

7 year old might be going blind

I just got back from the Vet....He did the "shine the light in the eyes test " and found no real reaction on the left eye, slow reaction in the right. So there is vision loss. He saw no retina scarring and the heart sounded normal, both would be symptoms of taurine insufficiency. He doesn't...

7 year old might be going blind

Im thinking about the vet.....but if all Im going to hear is "there is nothing that can be done" ...she will live the rest of her life as a comfortable cat, doing what cats do, and taking cat chances. We all have to die sometime from something. Im really looking for someone who understands cat...

7 year old might be going blind

I have a 2002 model (about 7 years old) showing signs of hesitation and uncertainty about her walking. Im concerned, but far from certain that she may be going blind. Im not planning to see a vet (yet) as I believe in non- interference (for the most part) and survival of the fittest. This...

Suppliments for Cats that eat dog food

Well at the moment Ive decided to add a can of Friskies 5.5 oz can every couple of days downstairs away from the dog food. They both ate from that and, at least for the moment, the bigger can is too much. Regarding the last posters comments for feeding times and no free feeding....yes, you are...

Suppliments for Cats that eat dog food

What I think your saying is: The best supplement is for the cats to eat cat food. I considered that. My problem is the complete free lifestyle I let these cats have. They have a cat door that lets them go in and out at will. They come in nibble at the dogs dish and move on. This way, I have...

Suppliments for Cats that eat dog food

I have two healthy and active cats that have been eating from my dogs dish without any problems for at least 3-4 years. Im reading this is bad for their nutrition. Cats need higher protein, arachidonic acide, Taurine, and Niacin that Dog foods lack. Can I get a supplements for these cats who...
