the SPCA and Humane society do have a presence here, but not a shelter. They are only fostered through other people. (God willing I will be able to foster one day when things are normal!) None of them that need new homes have ever been to a vet (please, I know you all mean well, but please...
Does anyone have any links that will help me to quickly re-home a lot of cats? I posted the post below previously and am reposting it now so you can see what I am referring to. Thank you!
I haven't been on here much since the kittens were born, but now I have a huge problem I hope you can help with. One of the babies has worms, I assume this means all the babies have worms. Please, I know that the immediate reaction is "vet" but we are in foreclosure and having to move in 60...
I was always told by humane society and spca that craigslist is a VERY big no-no for posting pets. Apparently a lot of hoarders, fight dog trainers and medical testers go there frequently to find the animals they need for their nefarious deeds.
So my doorbell rings about an hour ago. One of the neighborhood kids (13 years old) asks me "is this your cat? We found her and didn't want her out in the thunderstorm." Great, so now every time a cat is found it is assumed to be mine. I already have 9 with the babies! Of course she is...
My husbands helper has a cat that apparently just gave birth. I say apparently because she was meowing a lot and then disappeared outside. They live about 15 miles from us so I don't know how much of this is fact. I tried to tell him today that those poor babies are probably flea infested...
NurseDoggett, I got your thread a bit late. I have actually used it 5 times now and let me say, the eyes are HEALED! YEAH! Now, would I do it again with the same tube? NO WAY! I realize that your advice is sound, but I had to do whatever I could to ease his healing. Thank you everyone that...
So, I got to thinking about the last batch of little ones in this house (about 3 years ago) and I realized that one of them, now a full grown kitty, also had recurrent eye infections as a kitten. I tried to remember what the vet said, and I remember asking if it was okay to use the arithomycin...
Why do my posts keep getting hi-jacked? Does anyone else have any insight about when it is safe to let mommy back out and about in the house? I guess we will still have to keep the bedroom door closed so the other cats don't mess with or hurt the babies....
I was afraid you all were going to say that. I was really hoping for some fast acting home remedies. I have under $50 in the bank...don't know how I am going to work this one! I think it will start with a call to the vet's and see what they say over the phone.
Butty's eyes are still sealing shut, I have to wet wipe them open about 4 times a day. Not a problem, but there has to be another way. I have some arithromycin (sp?) from when my daughter had an eye infection (conjunctivitis) but I don't know if I can put a tiny bit of it on his eyes....any...
OMG! That is so sad! I guess casting a tail isn't a possibility is it? Still, amputation sounds so harsh! for the little baby to feel better and recover quickly!
Well, still working with Butty's eyes, they still seal shut a lot and of course LittleOne freaks out with all that crying, guess she thinks I am killing him/her. Fidget still has a minor eye infection, not too bad, seems to be clearing up. Widget seems very personable, but he/she tends to drag...
Well ... good and bad on the eyes. Butty now has had his right eye open for almost 24 hours, the left one keeps getting glued though but not as much time involved to get it open. Unfortunately he passed it on to his tabby twin Fidget. Fidget only seems to be affected in one eye at the moment...
She moved them again. Dang cat! Now they are right up under the head of my bed. 2 weeks old today so you know they will be crawling around soon and we will have to be SUPER careful getting out of bed!
Bought a 12 pack of canned friskies. I opened up one can and dished it out to her. Would you believe that can was gone in less than 3 minutes!? Poor thing. I did give her a cooked chicken tender this morning, so she wasn't starving, but she sure is hungry. I will set out another can for her...
Thank you all for the advice about getting momma to eat. Any advice on the eye infection (like can it spread to the other babies?) or on the handling? I would really appreciate your thoughts.
