I know it's scary, but I've had many feral kitties spayed/neutered and there has never been a problem. And in that situation there isn't really even any recovery time at the vet. They're in, they're out, you take them home. Try not to worry, it'll be fine!

Tootsie has long conversations with himself all day long. I can tell when something is directed to me or one of the other animals, but mostly he talks just to hear himself, I think. It's really quite amazing and entertaining. Every sound you can imagine is in his vocabulary (and rarely a meow).
I call one of my cats "chatty cathy" after the old doll (and the cat is a boy) because he NEVER shuts up! I never heard more sounds out of one cat. I think he's part mockingbird. All day long he's having a facinating conversation with himself. (I love it.)
