    Backyard fleas.

The weather is cooling off, only 70's during the day and 40s-50s at night. My question is, if there are no neighborly animals and no other mamals have been observed in our backyard. Additionally, our yard is kept trimmed and treated for insects monthly. What are the chances of him contracting...

Thanks for the input everyone. I will be changing food again and will give my a cat haircut, since he is long-hair and it makes it difficult to see fleas if they exist. Also, I have ordered some shampoo/conditioner/lotion has high ratings in treating itchiness, it is by Micro-Tek. Anyone...

    Catnip Spray: Opinions/Experiences?

I created my own catnip spray and the friends I gave the final product to said their cats loved it. It is easy to make and probably cheaper than buying it in a pet store. I will probably make some more once my kitty arrives and we move I am the kitty drug lord! I am thinking about making...

What to do about kitten claws?

Clip them or use Softpaws if you're uncomfortable with clipping. I would suggest, since she is a kitten still, getting her used to having her paws handled and claws clipped. It is an easy and fast solution. Here is a good resource about clipping claws: http://www.catscratching.com/htmls/article.htm

Yea, it hit on the night that I needed to wake up early to be somewhere. I woke up to a car with about 3 mm of ice all over the vehicle. It took about 40 minutes of scrapping to get the ice off so I could drive without being pulled over

    Any vet techs here?

I am considering vet school or dental school, the obvious contrasts being pay and lifestyle. I enjoy animals, but the pay difference is astronomical, however, I would also enjoy being a dentist. Ahhh... life defining decisions.

    Purebreds in shelters?

While I lived in Alaska and had no available Maine Coon breeders in the local area , I would look to the pound to see if they had any that people did not want anymore. As far as pure breeds are concerned, the only ones that I could distinctly label were Persians and I only saw 3 of those. Of...

    Grooming Tools

Maine Coon is the breed. Jeeze Aby, nice brands of brushes, perhaps I will be able to purchase them someday. I was thinking about buying all of the types of brushes with the addition of the bamboo's version of the "furminator."

I am split between driving or flying my Maine Coon kitty to my new home in Washington D.C., while my wife is flying and could take our cat; I will be driving and can also take the cat. Bringing the new cat home...

Well, I talked to the breeder about it. She said that his line has never previously sprayed, even the studs are not known to be notorious sprayers. They suggested to get him neutered between 7-9 months for the hormones, he is a maine coon which grow for 3-5 years.

    Bringing the new cat home...

I am getting a Maine Coon soon and was wondering if it would be more appropriate to pick him up and bring him home first, then get him neutered; or, schedule his appointment, pick him up and take him to the vet, then take him home afterward. He is 6 months old.

    Travel Case Recmmendations

My maine coon will be about 22-23 pounds when fully grown, so does anyone have any suggestion as far as what carrier I should buy? Hard or soft? Brand? I've been looking at these: http://www.sturdiproducts.com/4111/x...2&cat=1&page=1 and http://www.amazon.com/Teafco-Argo-AC...1964494&sr=1-2
