My friendâ€8482s male cat had to be castrated due to having a really bad stone in his urethra that couldn't be fixed any other way. Post surgery he has to be on that special food you can only get at a vet's office (you know, the super expensive stuff...) to keep him from getting another stone...
Meowers- My cat doesn't really seem to care for apples but I'm gonna have to see if he likes plums I actually just started peeling another orange a few minutes ago and I was attacked again. He came running upstairs and sprinted over to where I was like he didn't want to miss out on an orange...
As soon as I start to peel an orange he comes running from wherever he is. Now that I've learned it's not harmful I don't mind giving him little samples. I just want to know if anyone else has a cat like this or is he the only one?...
Does anyone know of any health issues related to oranges? One of my cats just loves oranges. As soon as I start to peel an orange he comes running from wherever he is (seemingly out of the woodwork...) I was giving him little pieces but then I started worrying about it possibly being bad for...
Long overdue update-
Ok, so Babbiness (who had also always been a bit "irritable" when getting pet around her hind quarters and I originally thought she was just moody but I also read that "swollen joints" can be another symptom. The soreness seemed more like moodiness because she seemed to be...
This link provides some good info as well and specifically speaks to drool, snot, etc in the 3rd paragraph titled "FCV infection is often chronic".

Ultimately, I've accepted the fact that all 4 of my cats will most likely be carriers of...
I don't want to be a hypochondriac but while researching the Calici Virus (FCV) I learned that a sign of it can be drooling. I'm not saying your cat has Calici, I just wanted to bring it up.
Our recently adopted (4 weeks ago) stray (Babbiness) had also always been a bit "irritable" when...
I've had a few cats that have had traces of blood in their stool at various times (sometimes lasting for a wk or so). The vet didn't find anything & said it can sometimes be caused by stress or a few other factors that are hard to control. The vet also reiterated that it only takes 1-2 drops...
Sharky- Thanks for the comments; she goes to the vet tomorrow (I can never get an appointment the same day (or generally within 2 days) because my vet is very popular. She goes in for a "drop off" in the morning which means we drop her off with a description of the symptoms and they work her...
Laureen227,
I looked around the house and found some 500mg tablets (they were fairly lg in size) that I could probably dissolve in water but I wonder if it would too bad for her to drink it ? I could also break it up into pieces and try getting them into her mouth but that seems link a very...
Aug 1994: Got our first 2 Kittens (M tabby-"Mansize", F/M tortoise maine coon -"Tigger"). We traveled all over the U.S. with them for 11 yrs.
Nov 2006: Discovered Mans had "extremely rare" male bladder cancer. After x-rays, ultrasounds, transfusions, and ultimately surgery, he didn't make...
Sorry, I probably explained myself badly irt the nose and paws. When I said it was only on the nose I was referring to your comment about the herpes being on Pixel's face and I thought that meant in more than one spot. I was just trying to say that it was only on her nose and not all over her...
Thanks for the reply.
Well, it's only on the nose but I could see it as a possibility. What was the treatment (short and long term)? Does the treatment adversely affect their lifespan like some long term medications do?
4-6 wks ago we adopted an approximately 2yr old stray (already fixed but with no microchip). currently she has an irritated nose area (looks bloody) and her 2 front paws are irritated on (and between) the pads. I had a few ideas, one of which was a contagious virus of some sort that has spread...
