Hi everyone!
My two cats were sick a while ago, and I had to inject horrible tasting medicine into their mouths twice a day for about a 1.5 weeks... they only way we could make this happen was having me or my boyfriend hold them and the other using the syringe to inject it into their mouths...
Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I tried the prairie homestyle, and it was a hit, so I'll see if they continue to like it :P I think I'll see if I can find the Fromm too.
And, I've even gotten them to eat some pate style, so maybe the not eating for days sort of got them open to trying...
Gir is now eating/drinking too! They were running around playing with each other last night
Vet thinks it could have possibly been the food they were eating or otherwise would have had to be a bacterial/viral infection. I'm going to keep giving them the Metronidazole until their stools are...
Hi,
After my saga here: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=195185 both my 8 month old furbabies are feeling better and are eating! I was feeding them weruva wet and evo dry, but am hesitant to go back to feeding either of those in case something was wrong with the food or they had...
I know just how you feel. I was a nervous wreck when we got Gir spayed a couple months ago.
Gir came home and jumped/played like normal, I tried to stop her but couldn't My vet gave us pain meds to give to her, so I think that's why she wanted to play. I think Gir didn't eat until the next...
Waiting has got to be so frustrating
Let us know as soon as you hear from the vet. Here's hoping you find out something useful. I'm like you in wanting to know exactly what is wrong.
Thanks for asking tamgirl!
Link is doing a lot better... He hasn't thrown up at all since last night (the vet said he probably threw up last night right after the medicine b/c it taste so bad). He's been eating small amounts of baby food and a bit of canned food. The vet gave me some...
OH, i forgot to mention LInk is acting like he is feeling a lot better to. He is currently walking all over the keyboard wanting attention And, he even started to play with a toy on his own for a bit. Gir on the other hand just went to sleep.
Thanks for all the replies!
We just got home from the vet. She gave them some more subQ fluids. All there blood levels are normal, and their kidney and liver functions look good. She also did a barium x-ray series, and that all looked good, no blockages or anything. She said they didn't...
Thanks for all the good vibes!
Update:
They seemed to be doing better yesterday morning, they were more active and not vomiting, so when the vet called me to check in on them, I told her they seemed better than before. Well, I guess I shouldn't have said that in front of the cats because...
Hi, both of my 7.5 month old kittens, Link and Gir, are not doing well. They are littermates. They are strictly indoor cats, and haven't been in contact with any other animals.
I appologize in advance for this being a REALLY long post. I just need to tell everything that's happened. I am...
Thanks everyone!
I think I will wait on the transition to set feeding times until they get a little older... maybe around 9 months to a year old.
What I'll do right now is transition them off the dry and onto canned only. Then on the days I can't come home for lunch I'll leave some canned...
I decided to get both of my kitties micro chipped... I keep them inside but sometimes they like to sit by our patio door when we come in and out and they could easily get outside. Better safe than sorry, I say.
I agree with AlleyGirl, I think the chance of a cat getting out is much greater...
Thanks Leslie,
Do you think if i feed them:
7 am in the morning before I go to work,
6 pm after I or my boyfriend get home from work,
and 10:30 pm before I go to bed
Will that be enough small feedings? I can make it home for lunch 3 days a week and i could feed them then too, but two days a...
I have two 6.5 month old kittens, Link and Gir. They are both fixed. I have noticed Link (a male) has been gaining quite a bit of weight since he's been fixed... I don't want him to become overweight, so I think I might need to make a change to their eating habits. Gir only got fixed about...
Thanks everyone,
Its nice to know others have been successfully dealing with the same situation. At least I know I can stay on top of it and not have to worry.
Shiraz, I might have to try something like your link... we have something similar but bigger.
Nekochan, I couldn't imagine having to...
The next attempt at trimming was a success! We trimmed them with small human nail clippers, and it seemed to work.
We had a talk with the vet and had her look at them after the trimming... she said that they should be fine if we keep them that short.
So, we didn't have to do the declaw...
Thanks so much for all of your replies!
We will try a few more times to get it clipped before we decide what to do... I'll make sure to talk to vet again about everything.
I'm really worried about the recovery after the claw removal, especially if she loses a toe I would think that it would...
oh, I forgot to mention that we have her spay scheduled for Feb 27th (she will be six months old then), but vet said we could post pone it until we decide what to do about claw, but I hope to have her spay done before she goes into heat. It's not super important that we get her spayed right...
Hello!
I have two polydactyl kittens, named Link(male) and Gir(female). They are just under six months old.
On her front paws Gir has a claw that grows between her paw and her extra toe... it would be like a finger nail growing out between your thumb and pointer finger... it is very hard to...
