Pet Planet - For People In Alberta And Southern Ontario

I've been rather sick of the popular pet store chains in my area (Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario). The quality and customer service isn't always helpful, and the wide selection of food (most of which is full of garbage and dreaded by-products) has always confused me. So many of the products, both...

A Quick Question About This Forum

Hello, Very recently I found a store in-town here that sells high-quality cat products (food, litter, etc.) at a decent price. I was extremely pleased and surprised by this because I haven't been able to find some of these products ever since I adopted my kitten late last year. I spoke to the...

    Swollen Paw-Pad

She's behaving and eating normally, so no worries there. The swollen area was actually a slight wound. It's healing/scabbing over right now.

    Concern with Litter Box

HWC, do you highly recommend the Roll 'N Clean? Any problems or concerns with it? How much did you pay for it? It looks like a fairly simply yet effective method of keeping the litter box empty without having to actually look for and scoop everything yourself.

    Laser-point toys?

What's the general opinion on these? I imagine a cat would get more thrill from literally catching something (small mice toys, etc.) when playing as opposed to only getting excercise. But they still look like they enjoy running around like mad, so I use one.

    Swollen Paw-Pad

The temperature of the swollen pink area isn't any different than the rest of her body. It doesn't even seem to phase her when I touch it or move the pads around. But I did notice when we applied hydrogen peroxide that it formed a slight white fizz around part of the swelling, and I know it only...

    Concern with Litter Box

Thanks everyone for all the input! Next time I clean out the box completely I'll be trying it without the liners.

    Swollen Paw-Pad

Doh, I'm a dummie. What she stepped in is that isolation substance you set in between the outside of a window-pane and the wall it's going into. It helps keep the warmth in and what-not. It's not a glue she stepped in (but certainly feels like it!)

    Swollen Paw-Pad

My kitten stepped into this glue substance earlier today. I'm not sure exactly what this substance is called. My dad is building an extra bathroom in the house and once he placed down the floor of the walk-in shower he used this substance to seal it to the floor along the edges where there are...

    Concern with Litter Box

Don't you guys find that, when not using a liner, urine tends to stick to the floor of the box if it seeps down far enough? I had that problem at first before hearing about liners.

    Concern with Litter Box

Heylo, I've been having a minor issue with the litter box ever since adopting my lil' kitten Zoe. I've had her for about 6-7 months (she's 9 months) and this has been a problem since the start. I set-up her litter box as follows: Place liner along floor and inner-sides of the box. Essentially...

    Kitten Independance

Mine is the exact same. xD Good to hear though. I wasn't exactly "concerned" about all this. More so curious on whether it's normal or what.

    Kitten Independance

Hello, I have a 8 month old feline kitten, have had her for about 5 months now. When I first brought her home she slept on my bed right beside me for the first week or two, but that was the last time. Ever since then she's become a lot more independent. She'll sleep alone on a couch or in one...

Australians ONLY - Orijen users alert

Hi there, I live in Ontario, Canada, and have found a local pet shop that sells Orijen Kitten/Adult formula. Is this food relatively safe to feed to my kitten? Is it only Australia who's received the odd shipments? I didn't really get a chance to read through the entire thread as I'm in a...

    Cat Scratching

I'm sure you can find a long thread around here somewhere about scratching in general, but my friend recommended getting one of those triangle scratching posts (or any other "funner" looking posts) as the simple vertical one is rather dull to her cat. *Shrugs* I have yet to try this, but it's...

    Is this progress? (Kitty Introduction)

Aw, Hallow looks exactly like my kitten Zoe. She even has that white "eyebrow" going from her eye to her ear.

    He bit me!

Hissing does actually work in some cases. When she was little she would get into or onto places she wasn't allowed and I would react by hissing then picking her up and moving her away. Now she recognizes the hiss as a "Bad kitty!" and rarely does she go to those places any more. And when she...

    He bit me!

Thanks for the info! Is misting using a spray bottle a good idea when they bite or get too aggressive? I usually use a combination of the spray bottle and a sharp hissing sound to discipline her, as I'd rather not make any physical contact with her (ie. hitting, patting, etc.)
