Has he had a vaccine in the area recently? Sometimes those can cause a reaction. Does it feel like it's liquid filled? Could he have been bitten by another cat or your dog? Sometimes bites can get infected and an absess can result.
One of our cats has a fluid filled bump at the base of...
One of ours did this for about a month. We took her to the vet and did the xrays and got pain meds. Nothing obvious on the xrays, maybe the start of arthritis. Whatever it was, it got better and she back to normal.
Sorry, no real help to you, but I hope your kitty gets better soon!
Haven't heard anything since Friday night, when the vet called to say that now the lab is saying that no bacteria was present. The vet wasn't too happy with the lab and apologized to us and is refunding us the cost of the labs. He was going to speak with the lab director in the next day or 2...
Cuervo is our jealous one. If I'm petting Bacardi she will come over and muscle her way in and steal her pets. She gets jealous when my husband is rubbing my back too! She will come over and nudge his hand
Another update...the latest urine test was cultured and there are definite signs of bacteria. They are gram staining it tonight and will call us again tomorrow when they have a more definitive answer on what kind of bacteria it is. Then she will be put on antibiotics for a few weeks and see...
We got the Petmate Fresh Flow one last night. The one cat that likes to play in the water was curious and started drinking out of it then. The other cat is still kinda leary of it and has smelled it and stuff, but we haven't seen her drink out of it. I'm hoping she is drinking from it, just...
Thanks for the replies. I think we are going to get one this week and hope they don't make too much of a mess. I'll probably have to put some sort of plastic mat under it too. We have to have a tray under the bowls now to keep the one from soaking the floor.
We are looking at getting one of these for our 2 cats, mainly for the one that's recently had kidney issues and I have a couple questions for those that have them. Did your cat(s) really start drinking more water after you bought it? Which kind do you have? Do any of you have cats that splash...
No, I don't have the rest of the numbers since mu husband spoke with the vet. I asked him to write them down when he spoke with the vet, but he didn't of course. I should know more on Tues. when the culture results come in and I can get the other numbers then hopefully.
Oh, I didn't know they couldn't do anything for kidney stones. I don't know yet if we will be getting an ultrasound of the bladder or not. I guess it depends on the latest urine culture.
I'm sorry about your old cat. Ours is only 6.
We ended up switching to a new vet. The old one just wasn't cutting it with their communication and we kinda wanted some place closer to our house. We went yesterday with both our cats to this new one and are very pleased so far with them. They did a new blood panel and urinalysis on Bacardi...
Yes, she was started on the K/D diet at the beginning of this month, so it's been almost 2 weeks. She likes it which I was relieved, because she usually doesn't take to new foods.
Thanks for the info!

Thanks everyone for sharing your own experiences. It definitely helps and gives me hope. We took her in for a blood pressure check today and it was normal they said (121 systolic), which is good at least.
My 6 year old cat was just diagnosed with this today...so upset. She has been behaving normally and we only found out there was a problem by taking her in for a dental cleaning. Her bloodwork numbers seemed a little high, her urine seemed to show infection, so she was put on antibiotics for...
